new subs

    ok im 99% sure i my deal for 3 ED 8's will be going thru.

    they are D2 ohm coils so i'll have then wired @1.3 ohms in a 2.1 cuft box.

    yes i am. ima have a team mate build me a box. it will bo around the same size as the probox.

    whats a good tuning freq for nice deep bass and some spl too?

    Well these subs require 30Hz tuning to get a nice flat response that is still loud overall.

    I tuned my 19Ov.2 to 40 hz...yeah it was loud as balls but the 30-35Hz region was still decently loud but I would have prefered 30Hz tuning or even lower.

    To me I'd rather have really good 20-40Hz performance because it is harder to achieve than 40+ Hz performance. A simple prefab will get you there.

    I'd rather hear three 8's hit 20-40Hz better than expected because 90% of people are noobs who think 8's can't do sh!t.

    So for me personally I'd tune between 25-30Hz.

    oh snap that looks awesome.

    anyway you can make that box no wider than 30-31 inches? reason being is that i would like the spare to be able to fit back in it original spot if need be.

    the probox is 29 x 16.5 x11.

    but i'd like it to wedge in tight to the spare so 30-31 x 17 x 10 would be ideal for me. if you can do it like that or so would be great.

    how deep would you want the enclosure to be.

    With the existing height with a width of 30" the depth would have to be 23.5" deep externally.

    i would really like to keep it roughly the same size as the probox if i could. but if i cant the first one will do just fine. thanks.

    29 x 16.5 x 11. but i want it to be 30-31 wide instead of 29.

    not really...the enclosure would have to be tall as hell to keep the same volume and tuning withing the max width and depth.

    azn i had an idea. it may be silly but.....

    what if i cut the top of my probox off and put a new top on with cut outs for the 3 8's? the box is already 2.0 cu ft. so can it work or is it silly?

    my 10 could go pretty low so do you think the 8 can too in the same box?

    Man pedro that looks identical to what I am wanting to do...In the first page of this post the box aznboi put on there would be perfect if I could get that 20.5 down to about 16.25...I could stretch the length to 38 and the depth to 10.5....aznboi must be busy...can't wait to see what he says...

    I too want those 8's to go down low like that, so people will say "what? You got 8's?? that sounds better than my buddy's with two 12's"

    haha...damn you got me.

    I went to Murray for the weekend...had to get the hell out of town for a bit.

    I'm doin alright...busy as hell really with school and trying to find a new car.

    I haven't had much time to work on any designs...maybe after this week I'll be able to...college is soo much work damnit.

    As for now...I'll be lurking here and there until I get caught up with things. Sorry guys
