    kool.thx
    ummm
why do some ppl need crossovers?
or does everybody so that i dont have toooo much bass coming out

oh and do you think that there is a wiring problem with my h.u. or do i just need an equalizer or pre-amp or whatever

well the croosovers are ussually used with component speakers, if you buy 2 ways or 3 ways they have an internal crossover if im not mistaken. so that means you dont need the crossover, anyways amps ussually have internal crossovers. you should check if the amp's RCA's are connected right cuz your HU has an internal EQ and it has 3 pairs of RCAs 1 for the front speakers and one pair for the rear(they are probably not being used right now) and 1 pair for the sub.

Coaxial speakers have passive crossovers for the tweeter but not the woofer

but there is no need for a crossover if you have an eq right?

wrong.you still need to have a xover on your speakers.

all an eq does is boost or cut certain frequencies.

a xover will keep a speaker from playing certain freqs that it cant play. like cutting sub bass from a mid range, and vice-versa

ok..i had a 7800 and it has the ability to send subbass to the rear speakers.most likely for some one without subs.

so go into the menu section and see if you can change that.
you can also turn the subout on/off.so check that too. it might be off

so if i want the speakers to live longer i should get a crossover??

yes!if a mid tries to play bass for too long it will eventually die.same with a tweet.if its not crossed over high enough it too will fry.you also dont want a sub to try and play mid range.

this is how my set up is crossed over.

infinity dash plates (600hz hi pass 12db per octave.)they also have their own crossover that came with them.1 for the mid and 1 for the tweet.12db for the tweet and 6db for the mid.

my door mids-(80hz hi pass )from my HU.12db per octave.
since these too are coaxials they also have there own crossovers.

rear 6x9's-100 hz hi pass.12 per octive

sub-80hz low pass 18db per octave.

yup..............or else it will try and play all the frequencies from 20hz to 20,000hz.

a sub should be crossed over from 80hz and lower.

a good set of mids from 80 or 100 hz and higher.and tweets from around 3000-5000 hz and higher
