Ranger, I tell ya what son....If I can find a set of those I will give em a listen... I cant in good judgment just buy a set of spks without listneing to them. hell, me and the lil lady went to freekin walmart and heard a set of cheap ass speakers from sony that sounded great....for 47 bucks! LOL! To me the idea of having a decent sound system involves the precipitation of ideas and technology that blends the old and the new...the cheap and the expensive.... We need to go to best buy, they have a better selection...
Agreed. Just giving more options. But remember, how they sound in a sound board is not a good predictor of how it will sound in a car. But you can hear the differences in the speaker compared to another speaker. Anyway, part of the fun is looking for what we want and it looks like your having fun
That Orion amp is a good one. Theres a place around here in Ga called Repair Solutions. I know the guy works on old school stuff because hes checking out my Power Mosfet 300 and hes gonna take a look at my Orion XTR475 to make some bypass xover modules for it since I cant find any. I can get his number for you if you like.
Outstanding! I had a power 650 at one time. Great amp. The XTR amps...seems somewhere i might have a x-over module for one in a junk drawer or box somewhere..dont recall. The ol 2125sx was a great performer for years. finally quite for whatever reason... Ya, send me a PM on the guy in GA. Ill give him a hollar. Thank you
Well guys, this may get put on hold for a bit. Found out today that hours at work are cut back across the board...Even me the the maint. tech. sooooooooo......it might be a bit
Even better news....the lil lady was bringing me lunch at work...the the upper coolant line blew off. overheated. long story short, oil in the coolant, and coolant in the oil. When it rains it pours!!! LOL! So my project on the cheap is done for this rig for a while... Going to run a compression test on all 8 cylinder this next weekend to get a rough idea of whats going on. hopefully just a blown head gasket at best, and a warped or cracked head at the worst. Glad i put wood heat in my shop not too long ago!!!!
Thats what Im hoping for! Even a warped head would not be too bad, If its not to far off, I have the equipment to resurface it. I will just have to make a new cutter for my mill to handle the larger surface area of the head. Now, if its cracked....I can repair it, but not sure if i would trust it for more than a few years. I did repair a cracked iron head on a diesel engine years ago...run for another 180000 miles....never know.
My guess would be cracked head and blown gasket..check each cylinders compression, see if coolant is in any of the cylinders (which ones)
180k on a repaired head! Wow! I think you just lucked out on that one! If I was going thru the trouble of tearing it apart, I'd at minimum get a used head from the junkyard and have it rebuilt. Even if your labor is free, gaskets aren't cheap!
