Aight...so they worked well for awhile and then all of the sudden I started having problems. I'm not for sure what exactly the problem is though...at first I thought it was the amp was not properly grounded, then I thought the amp was messed up, and now I dont really know what to think.

The amp and everything will turn on and and when I have the volume about a fifth of the way up it can handle it but its not nearly loud enough. So when I turn it up just the slightest bit it will start popping and cracking loud. Sometimes it will crack and pop extremely loud and the entire thing will just shut off...but if I wait a day or so and plug it back up it will turn back on but still pops and cracks.

So can anyone point me in the right direction as to what is wrong with it? I dont really wanna pay someone to look at it for $80/hour....

do you have another amp or friends with an amp? my suggestion would be to stick another amp in there to see if it will do the same thing. Have you pulled the sub out and tested it somewhere else?

naa i haven't tried that but I'll try it this weekend if possible. But i can't really take the amp out cuz it's the amplified model of it...so its like built into the box...at least I dont think I can take it out.

okay, you can't do that then. Question... is the power line on the same side as your RCA's? If it is then put the powerline on one side of the car then put your RCA's on the other...

You said you checked your ground. How long and where is it grounded to?

Yea they are actually on the same side....so if i run the RCA's on the opposite side of the truck from the power line you think it'll keep it from distorting?

It could, you should never run the RCA and power line on the same side. that shouldn't take long to do. Let me know if it fixed your problem. I bet that it's the cause.

hey just curious, why shouldn't you run them on the same side?

it could cause interference (buzzing, hissing etc.) cuz you are running the current and the signal line side by side.

Just to be safe, run all your wires that carry the sound (RCA,speaker wires) seperate from any power wires.

So I tried movin the RCA's away from the powerline and it definatly didn't work....this time they popped and cracked a few loud times and then it just cut off and wouldn't turn back on even after I unhooked it and hooked it back up. I really dont know what to think...i guess the amp is just messed up or something.

did it pop and crack while you were messing with the rca's?

    maybe somethings come loose.

what about the sub itself. if you push it in a lil does it make a scratchy sound?

x2 on what pedro said. It could be your RCA's that are the problem, a bad connection within the RCA's...

I didn't mess with the RCA's with the head unit on....aight so I should play around with the RCA connections with music playing and see how that sounds...and push on the subs themselves and listen for a scratchy sound. Aight I'm bout to go try this i'll let you know how it works.

Ok I just tried all that, and the subs are not making a scratchy sound at all...this is what I think it is...the amp light is not even coming on...but when i turn my radio on and off the sub pops and while the radio is on the subs kinda buzz real faintly. So i'm wondering if the amp is just messed up

Not even powering on? Hmmm, how is your power line set up? is it fused under the hood? if it is, what is the size of the fuse? have you checked to see if the fuse is still ok and not broken? Is your power line straight to the battery? Also, I think you had mentioned you checked it before but where did you ground it to? how long is your ground wire and what is the size of your ground wire?

Umm yea its a straight set up to the battery, the fuse under the hood and on the amp are ok, they are 20 i guess, they came with it. And the ground is maybe like 2 feet but thats the closest i could get, and i wanna say its 8 gauge...i put in underneath the trim on the passenger side suicide door. Should i get an amp kit from walmart and just try to redo the whole thing?

a 2 ft. ground is ok. did you ground it to bare metal (scraping it down to see shiny metal?) Do you have a DMM to test if the power line is okay?

No i dont think i scraped it down to bare metal...so i'll do that...and I dont know what a DMM test is lol. But this set up was working for like 2 weeks before i started havin problems...if that helps with anything.

OHHHH KKKKK, so i took apart the box and all that ****...and one of the connections from one part of the amp to another had slid off slightly, so i put it all back together and just put that bitch back in the truck and I am cookin with gas....so hopefully that was the problem.
