Hey, Ranger it really sounds like you have your **** together in car audio, with that much knowledge you should be able to start your own shop. Even if it's from your house or whatever just to start. Then if you get busy enough you can Quit! lol. I know easier said than done but is well worth it. I worked for an auto parts place for about 5 years and this guy had some serious problems. Would walk around with his fat ass hanging out of his pants and every day or so he would get in his mood and just start yelling at everyone. If any minor thing happened he had to blame someone else, he would probably duel to the death rather than be the one who was wrong. He would really get personal too, call you stupid, the whole nine yards. i put up with it because the pay was good and was always there. Now i do graphics on the computer at home for a company and the owner lives in the states so i work when i want and do what i want and have really no boss lol. I would never go back to that environment now, Screw that.
I've never been the "in charge " person, its just not me. The best times of my life was in the oil pit. I changed oil for nearly 18-years. Loved it. I survived 10-15 managers, and just as many service managers. But the last one was a complete ass. Had to quit. I was offered the service manager position a 100 times and never once considered taking it. I just had to show up on time, do my job, go home. Nothing more. I loved it. If it wasn't for that one asshole I'd still be doing that. I stumbled into Car Audio. "D" taught me alot. And alot I learned on my own. The only real conflicts we have is when I am expected to do things outside the shop. I don't deal with sales reps, I don't deal with dealerships, I don't deal with customers (except when the tell me what they want and what they expect). I DON'T ANSWER TELEPHONES. I dont do it at home I dont do it at work. The main thing about this job is that I come and go as I need to. The owner does understand that (for me ) school comes first. If not for that I would have left a long time ago. Some people were born managers, I was not
