I just recently acquired a 93 probe from my grandfather, and he had a Pioneer head unit in the vehicle, same brand that I had in my other vehicle. When I went to swap the head units out, I put the one that I had in my vehicle in the probe, heard a loud snap, and smelled burning plastic and saw a tuft of smoke. I turned the vehicle off, removed the head unit, and behind the heat sink located beside the power source, there's what looks like evidence of an arc flash. I don't know a whole lot about the inner workings of a stereo, but it IS still functional. I connected it back to my truck, and it turned on, but I smelled the burning plastic again, and saw a smaller tuft of smoke.
My stereo is a Pioneer DEH-3300UB, and any advice would help!
Mind you, the warranty isn't any good, or I would just send it back.
