    If you had to name 1 person, living or dead that you think has contributed the most to the advancement of man, who would it be and why?

    If by advancement of man you are talking technology, or improved quality of life, or what I would call external advancements:

    Leonardo Da Vinci - His inventions, art, and philosophy were huge for his day and pushed mankind forward by decades ahead of it's time.

    If you mean for man's well being, or what I would call internal advancements:

    Hitler - He was evil, I know this But his experiments on people leap frogged our knowledge of the human body, and its limits. By doing some of the things he did, we now know more about the human body then we ever could of, because no one sane would willingly do these things. His contributions to the medical field, and the increased life expectancy are immeasurable.
