They don't do it cause they don't know how.

Next time I get a Cadillac in the shop (I don't get many so please don't hold your breathe) I'll Plug in my Tech 2 and see what I can see.

The changes I've been making to GM's, Cobalt and G6 have required nothing except knowing where to go. (All I've been doing so far is telling the computer it has a cruise control). When replacing a GM radio with another GM radio requires that I re-program the radio to work with the car. This is done through the vehicle computer with the Tech 2.

    believe me
i know of what you speak
on our caddys we have on board diagnostics and can display codes and such through our dics.
under the override features with an increase in value we can add keyless entry to our cars (for those who didnt have it) cell phones, onstar.... everythings already there but to charge you like a grand for each JUST TO TURN THEM ON!!!

Well Cadillac, it goes back to the old story.

The city had a pump they needed fixed so they could pull water from the reservoir to the city for their drinking water. They called in the best people they could find, and they tried and tried to get the thing going. Nothing they tried was able to get the thing to spin. An old feller that was a maintenance man at the place as long as anyone could remember walked up and said "I can get that thing to go for one thousand dollars." They laughed, and didn't believe him him, but had nothing left to lose. Of course, there was the agreement that if it didn't work, there was no money changing hands.

The old guy stood back and studied it for a minute, put a mark on the side of the machine, and gave it a mighty whack with a hammer. The pump slowly started to spin up, and and in short order was doing what it was designed to do.

The feller asked for his money, and the folks were hesitant to give it to him. They stated "it only took you five minutes to repair that pump!"

"Ayup" the old guy said. "It cost you 10 dollars to fix the pump"

"And nine hundred and ninety to know where to hit it"

    so very true man
just wish there was an aftermarket for these cars b.c these so much untapped power
i mean common theres a reason the northstar is used in sand rails and such
i hoped the V series would draw people in but its just focusing on the newer models and not going back.
really stupid if you want my opinion because there are so many people who would purchase mods for caddys.

Yes you can. However, you cannot update over the net without a subscription. I get around this because of how much work I do for local dealers. If I need an update, they allow me to update through their PCs.
