    Just a cool song by Nine Inch Nails, very mellow but powerfull, I can't get it out of my head lol, on endless loop.

    Right Where It Belongs

    see the animal in his cage that you built?
    are you sure what side you're on?
    better not look him too closely in the eye...
    are you sure what side of the glass you're on?

    see the safety of the life you have built?
    everything where it belongs...
    feel the hollowness inside of your heart
    and it's all right where it belongs...

    what if everything around you isn't quite what it seems?
    what if all the world you think you know is an elaborate dream?
    and if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
    what if you could look right through the crack?
    would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

    what if all the world's inside of your head?
    just creations of your own...
    your devils and your gods and the living and the dead
    and you really are alone
    you can live in this illusion
    you can choose to believe
    you keep looking but you can't find words
    are you hiding in the trees?

    what if everything around you isn't quite what as seems?

    what if all the world you used to know is an elaborate dream?
    and if you look at your reflection, is that all you want to be?
    what if you could look right through the cracks?
    would you find yourself... find yourself afraid to see?

    lol one more...

    There are strange things done in the midnight sun
    By the men who moil for gold
    The Arctic trails have their secret tales
    That would make your blood run cold;
    The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
    But the queerest they ever did see
    Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
    I cremated Sam McGee.

    Now sam McGee was from Tennessee, where the cotton blooms and blows.
    Why he left his home in the South to roam 'round the Pole, God only knows.
    He was always cold, but the land of gold seemed to hold him like a spell;
    Though he'd often say in his homely way that "he'd sooner live in hell."

    On a Christmas Day we were mushing our way over the Dawson trail.
    Talk of your cold! through the parka's fold it stabbed like a driven nail.
    If our eyes we'd close, then the lashes froze till sometimes we couldn't see;
    It wasn't much fun, but the only one to whimper was Sam McGee.

    And that very night, as we lay packed tight in our robes beneath the snow,
    And the dogs were fed, and the stars o'erhead were dancing heel to toe,
    He turned to me, and "Cap," says he, "I'll cash in this trip, I guess;
    And if I do, I'm asking that you won't refuse my last request."

    Well, he seemed so low that I couldn't say no; then he says with a sort of moan:
    "It's the cursed cold, and it's got right hold till I'm chilled clean through the bone.
    Yet 'taint being dead - it's my awful dread of the icy grave that pains;
    So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you'll cremate my last remains."

    A pal's last need is a thing to heed, so I swore I would not fail;
    And we started on at the streak of dawn; but God! he looked ghastly pale.
    He crouched on the sleigh and he raved all day of his home in Tennessee;
    And before nightfall a corpse was all that was left of Sam McGee.

    There wasn't breath in that land of death, and I hurried, horror-driven,
    With a corpse half hid that I couldn't get rid, because of a promise given;
    It was lashed to the sleigh, and it seemed to say: "you may tax your brawn and brains,
    But you promised true, and it's up to you to cremate those last remains."

    Now a promise made is a dept unpaid, and the trail has its own stern code.
    In the days to come, though my lips were dumb, in my heart how I cursed the load.
    In the long, long night, by the firelight, while the huskies, round in a ring,
    Howled out their woes to the homeless snows - O God! how I loathed the thing.

    And every day that quiet clay seemed to heavy and heavier grow;
    And on I went, though the dogs were spent and the grub was getting low;
    The trail was bad, and I felt half mad, but I swore I would not give in;
    And I'd often sing to the hateful thing, and it hearkened with a grin.

    Till I came to the marge of Lake Labarge, and a derelict there lay;
    It was jammed in the ice, but I saw in a trice it was called the "Alice May."
    And looked at it, and I thought a bit, and looked at my frozen chum;
    Then "Here, " said I, with a sudden cry, "is my crema-tor-eum."

    Some planks I tore from the cabin floor, and I lit the boiler fire;
    Some coal I found that was lying around, and heaped the fuel higher;
    The flames just soared, and the furnace roared - such a blaze you seldom see;
    And I burrowed a hole in the glowing coal, and I stuffed in Sam McGee.

    Then I made a hike, for I did'nt like to hear him sizzle so;
    And the heavens scowled, and the huskies howled, and the wind began to blow.
    It was icy cold, but the hot sweat rolled down my cheeks, and I don't know why;
    And the greasy smoke in an inky cloak went streaking down the sky.

    I do not know how long in the snow I wrestled with grisly fear;
    But the stars came out and they danced about ere again I ventured near;
    I was sick with dread, but I bravely said: "I'll just take a peep inside.
    I guess he's cooked, and it's time I looked;" . . . then the door opened wide.

    And there sat Sam, looking cool and calm, in the heart of the furnace roar;
    And he wore a smile you could see for a mile, and he said: "Please close the door.
    I't fine in here, but I greatly fear you'll let in the cold and storm -
    Since I left Plumtree, down in Tennessee, it's the first time I've been warm."

    There are strange things done in the midnight sun
    By the men who moil for gold;
    The Arctic trails have their secret tales
    That would make you blood run cold;
    The Northern Lights have seen queer sight,
    But the queerest they ever did see
    Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
    I cremated Sam McGee.

    Kodo the heartbeat drummers of japan?I've got it.All the discs I've been recording using audio grabber/lame the higher the bar graph ,within reason, the better the dynamics,much like recording tape with peaks in the red.Everything is being burned at 320vbr.When I burn 4or5 different artists on 1 cd I was disappointed with dire straits there recording level was much lower

    Volume normalization
    As compact discs and other various sources are recorded and mastered at different volumes, it is useful to store volume information about a file in the tag so that at playback time, the volume can be dynamically adjusted.

    A few standards for encoding the gain of an MP3 file have been proposed. The idea is to normalize the average volume (not the volume peaks) of audio files, so that the volume does not change between consecutive tracks. This should not be confused with dynamic range compression (DRC) which is a form of normalization used in audio mastering.

    The most popular and widely used solution for storing replay gain is known simply as "Replay Gain". Typically, the average volume and clipping information about audio track is stored in the metadata tag.

    Ranger, this is a sweet thread you started. It has pretty well everything about mp3s, it should start getting some huge hits from outside the site soon. Did you make a decision how to back up your collection? Please forgive me and talk to me again! I'm going to start converting my collection also, so just waiting on Vikings opinion on the 1040kbps quailty before i make a decision. "hint hint" "nag nag" Viking lol.

    Cars that run on water and light!!

    http://www.horizonfuelcell.com/edu_hydrogen.htm

    The H-racer is a futuristic toy car that contains one
    of the most exciting and advanced technologies of
    the 21st century. This car operates on 100% clean
    fuel produced by a miniature solar-powered
    hydrogen refueling station that converts water to
    hydrogen using energy captured from the sun......…
    Cars running on clean and renewable fuel are the
    dream of many of today’s world leaders,
    engineers and scientists seeking to eliminate
    mankind’s reliance on fossil fuels in favor of climatefriendly
    energy resources........................……...
    With new advances in technology, hydrogen is on
    its way to becoming the world’s next fuel. Hydrogen
    offers many important advantages: it is non-toxic,
    renewable, clean to use, and the most abundant
    element in our universe. And by using fuel cell
    technology to convert hydrogen to electricity without
    any combustion, the technology is a significant
    solution to many of our global energy and
    environmental problems. …………………………..
    No combustion occurs inside a fuel cell. The only
    exhaust resulting from hydrogen fuel cell cars is
    pure water. Fuel cell cars that use hydrogen as a
    fuel are also known as “zero emission vehicles.”
    Today, many of the world’s automotive companies
    including Toyota, GM, Ford, Honda, and Daimler-
    Chrysler, are developing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
    with the hope of introducing this technology to the
    public in the near future. ……………………………….
    … … … … … … … … … … … . .
    The H-racer is the working miniature version of
    what is being developed in real-size cars of the
    future. This palm-size fuel cell car contains an onboard
    hydrogen storage tank, a fuel cell system
    connected to the car’s electric motor, and a
    hydrogen refueling system linking the car’s storage
    tank to an external hydrogen refueling station.
    Given its small size, the H-racer is also very safe
    as only tiny quantities of hydrogen are sufficient to
    power the car.
