How do they work? Ive got a good pair of DCM Loudspeakers that I love, and a pair of some Orions I picked up for real cheap at a garage sale. One of the Orions work, the other has 2 speakers missing. My question...Is there a circuitboard or some kind of crossover inside the speaker to divide the frequency? Im thinking about fixing up the Orions with tottally new speakers because the cabinets are pretty decent.

There should be crossovers of some type. You will need to open them up to see, but typically a floorstander is a fairly "high end" piece... I would suspect a real crossover. I have seen more than my fair share of bookshelves with a cap for a bass blocker, and that was it...
