my guess is that most people dont buy 5 ch amps cause they want a retarded amount of power for subbass,and a 5 ch's sub section can only put out...

yup, i got my 5 ch from them for 350. too bad they sold out before you joined or i would deff recomend it. 100 x4 @ 4ohms 12.5v sub 250 x1 4...

yes both amps have the same ratings. how much power do you want? i guess closer to the 550 rms rating?
if your subs are single 4 ohm subs then both wired together will be 2 ohms. so look for an amp that puts out the power you want into 2 ohms....
then he may not need a new alt then.
