It should be perfectly fine...I've seen many installs where the crossovers are mounted near the amp. Unless the run is like 100 feet lol there...
Where did you hear this?? Most new good head units have crossovers built in and they are anywhere near the speakers lol I'm assuming you mean...
Um...you can cover the tire in masking tape and aluminum foil....Well I've seen it done many of times...just cover what you don't want to get...

not both or none...it is only the remote wire...but its way too small...if you use a but connecter it feels like the wire will break it is soooo small
some have a remote wire in there too for ease if wiring...but I never use it cuz its like 20 gauge crap wire that you can't even crimp

Well I'd just try regrounding the head unit...I wouldn't go through the trouble of running a ground all the way back, maybe do that later after...
If a power wire was touching ground...than either a fuse would blow or a fire would start
