You don't need that much room...I messed around with WinISD and a 5.5 cu ft enclosure tuned to 35Hz will be hella loud and still have excellent...
that is roughly 8.9 cu ft to play with...you won't need that much. If you go too big with the box the sub may bottom out...but yes your new box...
