    Hello all, I have been thinking of doing a update to my stereo. So I have been wondering, has anyone owned and or seen/used;
    Soundstream TQS
    HiFonics BRZ SQ's
    Kicker L5
    MB Quart ONX

These are all Square model woofers, I've become very interested in this new fad of design since it should give 15% extra area due to shape.
I personally would like to find out if any of these are good for SPL or SQ or w/e.

Coming from someone that owns an L7, you'd normally want a square sub if you wanna be louder and push more air around which is exactly what it does. Due to the increased surface area of the sub. But idk if it's just my noob ears or what but I think my sub sounds fine.

i have owned 15" l7's and 12" l7's and solo x 12's... all sound thuddy.. they are decently loud.. also the square subs just dont seem to have the same kind of xmax that a round sub can produce.. and they blow alot easier in my opinoin then round subs.. it took kicker a few years before they fixed the blowing up issue.. if u buy a round sub for the same money u spend on an l7 it will blow it away..

So it seems than most squares are a SQ models, and the SoloX being the real SPL square it seems that only the SoloX tunes close to 40ish hrtz where the Hifi and Soundstream are around 35-34hrtz?
A person suggested since my MA Audio amp is the digi x series, I could look into 3 FLI or RE 10" and that would be a sweet 1ohm 250WRMS split and he spoke to me as if FLI and RE were the new companys on the market just destroying the others. But yet again never heard FLI or RE woofers in action.

@Shriver187, Earlier when was tuning my stuff I heard the thud sound that you were talkin about. But it was doin that because it wasnt tuned correctly. I took it today to some pros and no thud. It's crystal clear. Just MY two cents.

hmmm ok than well after watching some youtube vids on those RE and FL BTL's, ever owner acts like they own the XXX soundstream or the HCCA Orion or even sadder of the saddest the W7 which i dont understand why.....
So than I shall ask this on return since i've gathered enough eyes on this thread. I am thinking about 2 choices on this update and I would really like some good solid advice :)
    1. I have 1 15" AudiobahnAW152T in a 3.0cbft 4th Order tuned at 36hz only seeing 400W@4ohms (the woofers is 650RMS) so I have been thinking maybe, to buy another HK1000D and slave the amp to push 800WRMS@4ohms but I am not sure if this 11year old sub woofers can handle it(the box is right on the money for specs wise) so if that idea is no good than -->
    2. Buy a new 15" to replace my 11yr old Audiobahn, and try to find a 15" that can use 3.0cbft after sub displacment(box is 3.22)and take the amp i have which can run at 14V 400W@4ohms 500W@2ohms and 800W@1ohm to pump the **** out of it(which i dont mind this idea, those Soundstream SPL woofers ARE NASTY $$ too nasty lol)

Or looking into my recent question.
    3. Take the 15" out and replace it with 3 10" or w/e, that can run off the RMS from my amp at just the 14V and worry about doing 17V down the road with an extra set of 10" or w/e to try and push 6 woofers.

So any suggestions or idea, i'de love them. I would really like to get ride of the 15" in general because of it's size(it takes up half my back seat) but being able to find a 15" that takes 800-1000WRMS and fits in a 3.0cb.ft would be nice :) lol

interesting....I have an 15 year old savard rated at about 200 watts thermally. It is being driven with an antique 275sx orion. 300 wats of clean power. It performs well everyday even driven hard. Might not get tooo down on that old sub of yours!

well viking I must ask, what do you mean by getting down on it? Please do not get me wrong when I bought this sub back in 2003 when the Natural Sound Excursion series came out I was soo happy, specially since i found them on discount from 219.99$ msrp at 109.99$. The two of them thumped hard and impressed everyone plus my self oddly so i feel in love with Audiobahn, but... after the one 15" meet the dynamicohm off a JBL1201.1 that 700W too the 650 was too much(granted the ported box may have been too small"") and than after customer support sent 4 different versions of my manual which had typo's in it.... but even still this 15" i still got left even atm running 400W@ 4ohms which 250 short, it hit's and plus double bass metal music awesome... but the box takes up half my back seat(i drive a SC1 Saturn lol)

ANd Shriver if any 15" usually run's in a 3.0cb ft lay some models on me please :) I know Kicker CRV or w/e works in the box but... i've never been the biggest Kicker fan same thing with JL or Memphis which all had 15" that fit for this box. I know this is the newer age than what I was brought into for car audio so i'de love to hear some of these newer awesome company's that will work for my box :)

Unless someone wants to donate some money to me so I can get a Soundstream SPL 15" and can tune that at 45hz :):):):)

i run 2 older RE sx 12 spoke 12's in my jimmy on roughly 900 to 1k after imp rise and voltage. ED nine.1 @ 1ohm. 1200 rms @12.5.. it gets 13.5~13.8v. blah blah....

they are in a 4CF enclosure tuned @ roughly 30HZ. it doesn't break any SPL records but sounds wonderful with most all of my music, from jazz to rock/pop to rap and dup step.

but what they excel at is windows down deeeep bass.

    my money is on RE.

in all honesty, if you have a properly built enclosure. what ever sub you choose should sound good.

yes they are nice looking woofers but I have been thinking about doing a slave amp with my HK1000D to run 800W RMS @ 4ohms to this Audiobahn I have but I am not sure with only have a 650rms Single 4ohm Coil if pumping 800 would be the best of ideas... Any thoughts guys? please keep in mind the woofer is 8years old and the box it is in, is right on spec's with what the woofer calls for.

    well.. lol :) define easy""

I dont plan on using max gain power or anything since my deck put out 5V allready so... Running lower volume dont bother me too much just as long as the sub can keep up with the loudness. And of course worse case if the woofer craps out well, than that leaves me with a WIDE range of 15" to use in that box :).....
