Is it possible for a subwoofer at 200w rms and 500w peak to bang harder than a sub at 300w rms 1200w peak? Given that they are both powered by amps that suite each subs exact needs...
i guess it would depend on the box each was in and the tuning. i remember when i had my kicker running off of my M44 with around 250ish watts that it was louder on the meter than this kid with a few mismatched subs jammed in his trunk off of more power than me.
oh okay. so wattage does matter. I must just have my xplod underpowered... because it's like 150-300rms and 1300 peak so I'm thinking it should be semi loud but it for real sucks. I think my amp is just terrible...
the kid had more power than me yet i won . he had a crappy box and im sure some cancelation in his trunk. what amp do you have again?
show me a pic of the box. also which way is it facing? sub back does well, even sub forward back seat down does well to.
I don't have the box yet I haven't made it yet. I can't put my back seat down plus I use it a lot. I would put it in the back of my trunk. The amp is like a cuspid xtreme or somethin 1600w peak 4ch not much rms at all. I have another amp it's like a pioneer 250w (just a guess it's low) 2ch and powers my xplod the same as my cuspid.
oh right i remember you posting that the sub was louder with the pioneer amp. just use the pioneer and the sony sub.
I want to get at least one more 12 for more surface area... I think I will sell my xplod and buy 2 hifonics. 2 hifonics powered well should shake in a nice box... at least more than my underpowered xplod.
Idk about that because my friend has 2 of the older version 1200 watt peak power and he ran 4000 watts at 1 ohm to one of the subs trying to blow it and it wouldn't blow at all!
yeah I doubt it was 4000 watts...My bet is a crappy amplifer "rated" at 4000 watts peak. 200 watts rms.
