I really don't want subs in the trunk, so I was thinking of replacing the back 6x9's with these http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-864. would these actually work that well?
do you think that these would be better? They have a bigger voice coil.. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-837
judd...you are incorrect. The first sub in the original post has a bigger coil and is 4 ohm The second sub is has a coil half the diameter of the first and is 8 ohms. Depends on what amp you will use....either a mono amp wired at 2 ohms or a 2 channel amp I would use the 1042 sub....more excursion and power handling
Azn...sorry lil buddy...you are incorrct also... Voice coil dimeter is NOT a judge of how much bass a speaker puts out, nor is the impedance. The larger the VC the more efficinet it is...generally speaking........but with todays "technology" it actually detracts from efficiency due to longer thros in the moving mass...and less efficiency in the band of frequencies in which it plays. Bottom line, dont look at parameters TOO much for a sytem...they are a good guide line, but not an accurate measure of how they sound.
yep just like dave said.it depends on your amp.4ohm mono with the 2 8 ohm 6x9's or 2 ohm mono or 4ohm stereo with the 4ohm models. if it were me i would do a mono set up so both sub's move as one.
Viking...do you EVER read carefully enough?? haha you may be getting too old lol I said nothing about voice coil size or output. I said I liked the sub with the SMALLER coil...lol do I have to smack you now or what lol
I love these type of speakers. I really wanna try them out, but I have no where to put them! mm. i would love to have the space for 8inch JL w3's in the doors. but .... i don't. lol
hey ibanez JL makes a wo 6 sub.i looked into them last year, but would have cost more than i had at the time just to sound deaden the doors like sound advice recomended. i think they wanted 145ish each plus another 180 to do the doors.
okay, well, I already have a 4 channel amp. I was thinking of replacing the back 6x9 coaxials in the back with these...and do they even come on pairs? it doesn't look like it.
http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6534.html yeah, it's 2 ohm stable, but I wanna know if those subs even come in pairs, or if it's just one. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-864 That site has me confused.
no they do not come in pairs.and your amp is not 2 ohm MONO stable.if it were i would say get the 4 ohm versions. you can get the 8ohm models and run your amp in 4 ohm mono to give each 6x9 100 watts.
well, I could get two of those I guess...but do you know of a brand of regular coaxials that have really good bass? that's all I need cause I cannot get real subs. I was planning on hooking them to my 4 channel, and have one channel per sub, but I really don't know much
most 6x9's will give you ok bass if mounted right.if you just want bass from the rear then just get those 4 ohm versions and run them in stereo from the rear channels of your alpine.simple as pie.
