Ok so here is my problem. I just got a bunch of new gear, and I am shopping for a new pair of subs. For the whole story I have another thread going
    http://www.caraudiotalk.com/audio-forum/showthread.php?p=37240&posted=1#post37240

Anyways I want to use a lot of space, so I am going to be building small fiberglass enclosures, I will probably have between .5-.8 cubes per sub sealed. I am either going to use one or two (if needed) PDX 1.1000 amps. I am really looking for a subwoofer that can actually produce a balanced response in the higher ranges of bass (60hz and above) as well as hit a fairly deep punchy bassline, but maintain a good sensitivity. Due to the bass range requirements I am pretty much looking at 10's. Right now a couple brands I am looking at:
    -RE Audio SE's
    -The Elemental Designs 11Ov.2's
    -Ascendant Audio Arsenal's
I am also trying to decide if I am going to get enough bass volume (love clarity but I am still very much a bass head) from two subs run at 500W? I don't have any experience with using only two 10's in an SUV and I am kind of worried that they won't have enough volume to fill the entire cab. Perhaps I should try for a better sound with 4 subs @ 500W or maybe two higher output @ 1000W. Problem is then I require a larger enclosure. Any other ideas of sub brands or input on volume output?

ED 11Ov.3's with a PDX1.1000 will pound hard and clear

Been talking to some people on another car audio forum and I think I have figured out what I will use for a setup. I am going to build fiberglass wheelwell enclosures similar to the Jl stealthbox, only larger. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1421
I am going to build the system with the two subs in two of these sealed boxes one over each wheelwell and run a PDX 1.1000 for each sub. Then If I still want more bass I can always add some 1in mdr rings and two more subs inverted in a clamshell isobaric. I figure the RE SE' are beautiful inverted anyways. :D

Any input before I start finalizing things and placing orders?

Um...Isobaric loading won't give you any more noticeable output...just the capability of an enclosure half the space

But if his encloseur is to small to begin with,Isobaric will help compensate, get the size closer to optimun

Ok now correct me if I am wrong, but I am going to be meeting the space requirements needed for one of these subwoofers sealed. If I was to add a second clamshelled, wouldn't that not only help equalize the sub and produce more clarity, but also increase the output due to doubling the wattage (similar to the difference between a 500W RMS 10 and a 1000W RMS 10 of similar construction)? Obviously it will not produce the same output as two subs in a standard sealed box with double the watts, but wouldn't the extra subs increase the output a noticable amount? I would think that if I went from two sealed subs and added two additional clamshelled iso subs and doubled the watts being provided, it would sound about the same as maybe three subs in a standard sealed box, just the iso would sound much cleaner.

Or....would that just be the equivalant to me installing the single sub in too large of an enclosure and now be outside of the range of recomended sealed enclosure for the sub/subs and therefor distrupt the proper sound?

Actually if you model it in WinISD the curve for the isobaric in the same volume is lower...but the output wouldn't be much louder

It would be like you said the same woofer in an enclosure DOUBLE the recommended size

so I am going to need to find out if two subs is suffice before I go throught the hastle of building custom boxes. I think I will go buy a cheap box to start and then decide from there. If I can make the airspace issues work I will probably just use four subs and call it good. I'll post up some pics in that other thread I have going, once I start getting gear in the mail.

Thanks for all the help and stay tuned.

Ok so I got a good amount of the gear installed yesterday, more goes in today after work. Hopefully I can get some pics up by tonight. I will make a new thread just for the install on this truck once I get the pictures uploaded.

So far I have put down two layers of dynamat on the front floorboards and doors. Installed the type X 6.5's in the stock location with bass blockers, tweets up in the a-pillar, front crossovers, got the 4.150 mounted (167W per channel on the birth sheet  ), viper 791XV alarm, remote starter, nav unit and loaded the maps, bluetooth, ipod controller and the WA200 touchscreen all installed.

Tonight I am hoping to get the rear components and installed, dynamat the rear doors and get the microphones mounted for the bluetooth and nav unit. Oh and I still need to program the alarm.

Still waiting for the Sirius tuner and the digital signal processor in the mail.

    Pics coming very soon!

    Pictures

Forgot to get pictures of the floorboards and the rear doors after the Dynamat, but you get the idea. pretty much the same as the front doors, just with the 5 1/4in drivers.
