    will a 12" type r sub bridged on a 1200 watt amp ruin the subwoofer?

    If you have gains set right no, if not then yes you will melt that VC..

    If the amp is really 1200 watts rms

    you will have to be very careful in adjusting it

    A 1200 watt amp is kinda ?able.What is the model # of the amp.It could put out some clean power at a lower wattage to keep things in order.
