I see JL has made a high output enclosure for the 12W6v2 and I sure would like to get more SPL from my 12W6v2 but I love it's SQ. I've heard a 10W0 in a bandpass and while it was very loud for a single 10" sub it also sounded like crap. I was just wanting to know if the HO boxes will degrade the SQ so much that it just sounds like loud bump. tks
I've heard alot of people say they aren't that great. I've also heard people say they sound pretty good, but no one has said they sound as good as they would if they were sealed. Question is how much SQ do you want to give up?
Well, I've heard the W7s in the ho box, and was not particarly impressed, as compared to sealed. I cannot say the HO box will behave the same way with the W6s, but I don't know if I would want to risk it. That's alot of money to drop on a box, only to be disapointed in the end. Why not try building your own?
I wouldnt use their HO boxes. I did not like the wya they sounded with the 10w7s their SQ went strait to crap. I heard them 3 different times: in the shop, and twice in two different cars. One of the cars didnt sound so bad but the other was just poo. I think if you want more SPL build your ownd ported box . Doesnt JL now make a 'regular' ported box for these woofers? Or if that doesnt give it to ya maybe look into another woofer.
i built the ported enclosue for a 12w7 and it sounded great.... the best sq ported enclosure i have ever heard. it was lloud but still very accurate with great low end that will make your ears bleed. some specs... one the front seat of my 94 cavalier... hey you run out of room for testing when you have a wall. the enclosure was exactly the one listed with jl specs on the sheet with the woofer -- the slot port design. amps used... 2 autotek mean machine mx5000 strapped 2400 watts @ 2 ohm about 1800 @ 3 ohm ----- also put this setup in a diffrent car on a diffrent amp and it wasnt as loud being in the trunk but stil very accurate and good sq amp was: visonic 2000T about 1200 watts @3ohm
