My mom has a 2000 Grand Am, and it has been a pretty good car as you all know I am looking for a new Car as well. Was going to get a SUV, but now I am looking for something more "sporty" (side note, Buying a car is such a Pain in the ass) While I would love to Get the New GTO's $35,000 is way out of my Price Range.. So I was looking a maybe a the Grand Am, Gran Prix Line Infact I found a 02 Grand Am GTP that Looks good, Low Miles, etc etc Anything thing you guys know/heard about these Cars I should worry about the Only thing I dont like about them is that are EVERYWHERE.. so ...........................
Mike, knowing you and your taste in cars as well as i do... I'm absolutely positive that you'd LOVE a nice Honda Civic! :jawdrop: :ban: :boxing:
I will kill myself before I will even RIDE in a Civic. let alone OWN one Hell the suggesting the purchase of a Grandam will be a shock to people that no me, because I vowed long ago never to own a FWD car ---- but I like how my Moms car Handles so.......
LOL Well, i think that the imports are the better vehicles these days... but that said, I'd go with anything besides Dodge products. You said the GTO is too much, but have you priced out any Mustangs? I looked briefly, very briefly, but was quite surprised at how relatively cheap they are. And you can't get much sportier in terms of modern muscle. All IMHO, of course.
well I one the Early 2000 Stangs had some REAL relaiblty problems Plus I dont like the 4.6L platform (reason why I got the V6 TBird over the V8 because in 94 they went to the 4.6 over the 302 :ranting: ) But They could have fixed those issuse... Insurance is my Other Concern, I dont want to Go over over $500 a Month for everything, Payment, Insurance etc etc.... and Would Prefer to Say closer to the $350 - $400 Range if I can... So I am looking in the $15,000 Range.. (that would put my Payment at under $300 with $3,000 down )
just looked and to afford those I would have to get the Base Model which I believe has the V6, something about buying a Muscle Car with a v6 really annoys me... I know the Grand Prix has one, but the Grand Prix GTP is the Top of the Line in they Series, where I would have to get the Bottom of the Line Stang.....
Hey man, i hear ya on that... but thats exactly why i suggested the Mustang! let's take a quick look at the 2004 Mustang Coupe In addition to the standard features on every Mustang model, listed below are a few of the key features included on the Coupe. Powerful split-port induction V6 16-inch P225/55R tires and Alloy wheels SecuriLockTM passive anti-theft system Split/fold-down rear seat EPA estimated mpg: 20 city / 29 highway Horsepower: 190 hp @ 5250 rpm Torque: 220 lb-ft. @ 2750 rpm MSRP $18,775 New models on their way, and obviously used is a thought you're already entertaining. The question then, would be your premium... but you'll have ABS, airbags, and all that safety crap, so it should'nt be so bad... plus it's a V6, and that helps. http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang/g...p#Mustang_Coupe
ya beat my reply... but yes, you are right, even tho... the base Mustang specs are'nt too shabby IMO I'd choose the Stang over the Grand Am i think... but i'm not looking for balls in a vehicle, we've gone thru this I think you'll be happy either way. Maybe you should test drive em both, just for the hell of it?
I probally will drive 50 before I am done...... I want to get some Feedback of maybe some one that owns them or has worked on them too see if there are common problems I should look for, or if they know that say the Super Chargers on the GTP suck, or that the Head Gaskets go bad etc etc thing like that your not likly to see in a test drive
FWIW, g/f's brother owns one, but im not sure it's a GTP model. he bought it used, about a year or two ago, but it had very low miles, still looks brand new. only issue has been the ABS and brakes. he loves the car.
