actually it was lowes and I am still doing it, well until the 19th, I turned in my noticed today

it is a good job, but recent lowes policy changes has caused me the question the stablity of the current program i am working under

so I conacted a Manufacturers Rep Company that also services lowes ;) and applied for a job

so I am still working in Lowes, just doing something slightly differant, with more pay and more long term stablity, with a differant company B) B) B)

Whoops, meant lowes, don't know what I was thinking. :p That's cool that you get to keep doing the same type of thing though. As long as you like it.

It is a Manufacturers Rep Firm, Basicall once a Year I do Product Group Resets in the Seasonal and Lawn and Garden Dept. of Lowes

I have 4 Stores assined to me, with about 10 product groups per store.

During the Rest of the Year I go in to each store once a week and maintain the Displays POP(point of Purchase) materials and Signage, also take care of any issues the stores have with the product groups my company represents (for example we represent all the grill manufactueres besides weber, I would order parts for damages or stolen items from displays and what not)

it is a Mon-Fri Job except for 3 months in the summer when Sat are Required and then I pick a Differant Day off

there are no Set hours, I just "do the job"

I dont even Report my Hours worked I just get a Check (once a month, which I am actually Liking the more I think about it)
Some Months I may have to work more than 40hours a Week but from the Other Reps IO talked to that is the Peak seaons months, like march - july, and the rest of the time it will be more like 25-30hrs a week

all in all I think it is a pretty good deal

That sounds like a fun job, Mike...
And you'll be in a cooler location in general, it sounds like. B)
    Congratulations!

You like tweaking with the cosmetics of things at any rate... setting up seasonal areas and getting them to look right is what you are doing then?

I need to find a job like that... sounds interesting, while we get Better Audio off the ground! :D
What is this "Manufacturer's Rep Company"?
    Is that the official category?

Once I get my Access to their Systems I will let you know if there are any opening in your area

I will tell you that as Lowes Grows so does this company and since lowes is the faster growing home improvement retailer there are opening all the time

there is tech per 4 stores, lowes have 950 retail locations. with 125 planned for 2004 and 130+ planned for 2005 ;)

and 95% of the people that get hired are done do by other tech recommendations, it is truely a "not what you know but who you know" kind of thing, I got it through the tech that services the Store I am currently working in

Unfortunately, there's no Lowes in my area...
That's why I was wondering more generically, what that job is usually referred to as. :(

well is there a Home Depot? if there is you WILL have a Lowes soon, right now Lowes in Placing Stores anywhere there is a Home Depot ;)

For Example up until last year there were NO lowes in Chicago, by the end of 2004 there will be 5, and by the end of 2005 there will be 5 more (10 total) all because Home Depot has like 10 locations up there

so if you have a Home Depot chaces are lowes is not far off

but the General Term is "Manufacturers Rep" or "Merchandiser"

but my Job is reffered to has about 5 differant job titles since we do everything from POP Signs (merchindiser) to Resets. and we do Buybacks, and Recalls plus order parts which is the Rep Part so....

yea, near me the two home depots have recently had Lowes placed RIGHT next to them. Like I can push a cart in Home Depots parking lot, and it will hit Lowes.
