So after sometime ive finally covered my doors in sound deadener and fiberglassed the speaker mount into the door for a leak free fit. For along time i thought all the air leaks were my problem when it came to some sounds overpowering others even when i messed with every setting and every BIT of EQ for hours.. After all the work ive done, the midbass from my doors really kicks ass now. Hip hop and rap sound great and easy rock sounds clear and awesome.. When it comes to heavier rock and metal at high volumes it seems like the bass from the subs and highs from the tweeters are overpowering alot of mid frequencies. Its most noticeable when it comes to trying to hear the guitar in the music. I have about 180 watts to each of my (2) front door speakers along with the tweeters tied in. My subs are getting fed about 1300rms between the three but there sealed up so its not insanely loud. Do you guys think this is just a quality issue im having? Theres no noticeable distortion so ive kind of ruled that out for the most part. Maybe putting my tweeters on the headunit rather then on the amp will help?
Tweeters are typically very efficient little speakers, so it don't take much to get too much from them. So first, make sure your treble control is in the center. The bass on your radio should also be center. Turn off the loundness. How does it sound now? Still too much? OK try hooking it to the deck. Let me know how it goes
Hey Ranger, been along time since ive been around! paintball kinda took me over for a while lol. Everything is pretty much centered and equaled as good as i can get it, and loudness is always off =D! Ill hook them up to the deck and report back tomorrow!
Found out what the problem was... Well there was a couple actually, a while ago i had to put a Y adapter on one of my RCA's because one of them died in the whole pico fuse disaster i had with my 7800mp a while ago, so that was causing me to lose alot of mid frequencies in one of my speakers since i have the amp bridged, and 2nd i had the angle of my tweeters a little to high, there low but firing rite at my head so a little tilt toward the center helped alot. Im also going to post a new question in a minute to try and get more air a movin up front!.
Glad you figured it out. And yes, I never point tweeters at me. In my truck the tweeters are mounted in the doors and they point toward the rear view mirror. This does two things. The tweeter is no longer way to bright and by pointing it at the center of the windshield, imaging generally improves.
