just want some input from all of you. I'm getting kinda tired of my truck and I was thinking about getting an older BMW 5 series. what i mean by older is from 1997 to 1999. I'm looking into either a 523i or 525i.

I'm just looking around but good thing about here is that you can find cars like these with 40,000-60,000kms on the odometer. That's real low mileage especially for a 9-11 year old car. selling price for them is roughly $16,000 - $17,000 and that's what i'll hopefully get for my Expedition if i decide to sell it. Sound system will be coming out and going into the bimmer IF i decide to get one.

Should i consider it or just trash the whole idea?

it's about 750,000 pesos or about $16,700. It's in Manila though. that would mean i'd have to jump on a plane (1 hour flight) take a look at it, if i like it then buy it and have it shipped to where i live. I'm trying to get like 4 BMW's lined up so i won't waste a trip. I still have to sell my car though. lol

nope, it doesn't include the shipping. I can save a lot of money buying in manila though. Shipping would cost about $350. Not bad at all. Just to give you a comparison, my friend is selling a 528i for P850,000, in real money that would be almost $19,000. I can get one in Manila, same condition for about $16,000 to $17,000. Plane ticket would only cost about $100 round trip.

Are there parts readily available for bimmers there??

yes, there are a lot of parts and we have a dealership here as well.

I test drove a 1998 528i, it had a hamann chin, lowered and it's on staggered 19's. pretty sweet. it only had 42,000kms on the odometer too. There was a little wear (very minor) on the driver seat but all the weather strip is intact, paint was flawless, not even a dent on the car. My friend is asking about $16,700 without the rims but I'm trying to get it for that price with the rims.

I'm just thinking if it would really be a good idea buying a 10 year old car? Oh, i already have a buyer for my car, I'm leaving the DLS and the deck in it but the amps and subs are coming out. Hope she'll be back soon to take my truck off my hands.

I would love to buy this. BMW 335i coupe convertible. BUT, believe it or not, i think this is like a $40,000 car in the U.S. Here, it costs $111,000. hahaha, talk about overpriced! Nice car though

They are very cheap in the U.S. prolly around 8,000 to 9,000 for the year model. I'm paying almost double.

in argentina it would maybe be triple. about 8 years back my aunt and uncle came to visit and we started talking about cars. bmw's to be exact, and he couldnt believe how little they cost here.

he told me he payed 40k for his son's car,and he saw one in the paper for 15k or so. he freaked out.
