Is there a way to wire a sub using the existing 6x9's left and right wiring in the rear deck and still maintain the 6x9's? I thought you could use the positives from both speakers.

A sub "could" be wired to the 6x9 speakers existing wiring...sure. But to utilize both left and right positive wires is a no no.. you would want to use a Dual voice coil subwoofer, and install passive x-overs on both the 6x9's and the sub. Now what is running those 6x9's ? deck power, amp?

Just power from the deck. Panasonic 45 watts.

    Off deck power, NO.

And as far as the paasive crossover thing, forget it. More work than what its worth. And besides, deck power won't make the sub work and even with a crossover you'll fry the decks outputs trying something like that.

    Ranger is correct.

if you want to use the wiring off of the rear spks to feed into an external amp, then sure no problem. been done a million times...with good results for more bottom end boom boom..

With a line level input amp or using an PL2 you will NOT take power away from your speakers..
