I have a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 sport with premium sound and a factory installed 6 disk cd player on the top of the trunk. I am looking to replace all the speakers in it. What size of speakers do I need. One place I saw said that I need 6x5 speakers in the front doors and 6x8 in the back. Is that the correct size? Also is 6x5 and 6.5 the same size speakers. Also what is the best way to change these speakers and what speakers does everyone recomed?
The Escort uses 6 x 8 speakers in the rear and 6-1/2 (I'm sure thats what you meant) in the front. Be careful on your front speaker selection, mounting depth can be a problem with some speakers. Door speakers are a little too low in the doors, adding tweeters up high will help. You will need to make your own mounting pods
why not save some cash and keep the rear speakers in place and then get a nicer set in the front doors.
I have a ford and dont like redheads with an attitude. And i dont like the current political sytstem about to take over either.... but I am ok with 6x8's, hey, they bridge the gap between 4x10's and 6x9's, best of both worlds really...........especially if they have a BIG magnet on them....males them sound better you know...........AND handle more power!!!!!!!! STFU me......... hooo haw........

lol Ranger...jk..I have kenwood 6x8's in my doors. Just waiting to bypass this damned factory amp that is making them sound like crap
I've installed some Kenwood speakers and they always sound good, especially the 6 x 8 and the 6 x 9. The factory ford amp has built in equilization and limiting circuits, so the sooner you bypass it the better.
Yeah...damn torx screw on the seat belt loop I cant get out. I don't have a bit for it...know anywhere I can get a bit for it Ranger??? I mean it can get loud to a point then it starts to distort like crazy and just sound horrible...even worse than the factory speakers. I know it can get louder and cleaner....damn factory amp
I'm still here. How expensive do the kenwoods run. I have to replace all four speakers cause on in the door is crakling and one in the back is now crakling. How many watts does everyone recommend with stock everything?
Dont worry about the wattage too much. kenwood speaks arent too much really, average compared to the other popular brands. they are a good choice actually. i liked a set better than the rest several years ago, and they were the cheapest ones. Go give them a listen, along with whatever else they have to offer.
that wouldn't happen to be the same ford premium sound system that i have in my 97 taurus would it lol. Does yours have the separate tweeters also? I haven't picked up the car yet so i haven't heard it. Aznboi?
