Hey bud, good to see you. I stopped going there a long time ago. I just got tired of all the BS. I have been here since the start, and Mike has been very supportive of my store, and I try to return the favor in kind here so I focus my energy here.

We are always pleased to see smart fellas like you here. I certainly hope you hang out for a bit ;)

besides, we have cool ass smileys :p :robot: :starwars:

    same here...

all but abandoned everywhere but my own forum and this one when i found it....

We don't all agree on everything but the mindset it close to par for a relatively open minded board....

I stumbled on it not too long ago...and several of my friends fell in shortly after that....

:D we'll try to make this place and avva what the others should have been.....

well, if you mean picking others brains as being smart, yeah then you are in for a true feast... LOL... I cannot get any of my cars to sound decent, in fact, they sound worse and worse... even my 10 y.o. son keeps telling me this...

well, I guessed I registered here quite a while ago and even posted a bit but I sure cannot recall any of it... LOL, I thought the hearing goes first but it seems it is my mind (memory mainly) that is out there in a car audio pasture...

k, now I feel stupid... I guess it is something with the way the address was stored in my list of favorites... I trimmed the link in the favorites to just caraudioforum.com and it worked just fine... LOL, nothing better than feeling dumb right after Christmas...
But nevertheless, I shall hang out here for now... seems like a pretty cool place... I am gonna head out right now to make another futile attempt to RTA one of my failures and share my blues later on... I am gonna make my son do some sweeps instead of taping the mic to the seat and see what will happen...

Hey, man.... that's a great thing!

I'm really really really tired of the whole "lemming mentality" thing.
And it's not that I blame the potential lemmings either...
you ask advice, you get advice...
you don't know if it's lemming advice or a real expert offering advice, and if it's the same advice it doesn't really matter - a good suggestion is contagious, and it doesn't really hurt anyone... usually.

My issue is more with the whole mentality of it... in principle.
An expert finds something that's great for a particular application. And recommends it.
    Great.
Others see the recommendations, and in turn recommend it. But possibly blindly, maybe not understanding the particular application that it's really great for.
(DD 9515, anyone? :p ) Not as great.
Then, others see LOTS of recommendations as the momentum builds, and says "hey, if everyone else is recommending it..." and then THEY recommend it. Virtually for any request for advice.
Definitely not great. High potential for misguided advice.

    It's just a principle thing.

But certain forums something worse happens. And that's what I really take issue with.
Certain forums have "lemming mentality" coupled with "safety in numbers" and "bully mentality".
If anyone dares suggest something alternative to the lemming-accepted 'safe' product... a gang beating ensues, as you witness the aggressive to the immature jumping in trying to discredit, or simply personally attack the well-intended advisor.

    Lemming aggression is wrong.
Fortunately, lemmings go off cliffs.. and they turn non-lemmings completely off, leaving those places more lemming than non...

So let's strive to keep this place as non-lemming as possible, and enjoy[/i] the fact that we don't all share one brain, and that we all have different goals and realize it takes different gear and different approaches to reach our personal goals!

I'm personally glad to leave the "one size fits all" concept to the lemmings.
And I know for a fact that just about every one here is glad for that, also. B)

That's all good and well, but some people don't necessarily see it that way...

I agree that alot of people are "lemmings" and will follow or buy whatever people say. I'm somewhat guilty of that with Tru Tech., but the fact of the matter is, i haven't found an amp that sounds better. This is my OPINION, not the fact. I realize that Tru Tech. isn't for everybody whether it be because of performance, features, or price points...

Sadly, when anyone makes a comment such as: "I believe Tru Tech. amps are the best on the market," it is not always taken as a personal opinion. Some take it to be a direct challenge to what they believe. This is in no way true. I believe that is why alot of people have left SIN, but every board, including this one, has people with that same type of mindset. This mindset is very detrimental to the general discussions that go on and forums.

I really disagree when you say that people need to be in a group to try and actively discredit the opposing side in an argument. For example, if you look up a thread on SIN entitled "Helix Amps" you'll see that Peter Lufrano (authorized distributor of Brax/Helix in the U.S.) jumps in and refutes the statements made by others with personal experiences with his product. Granted, Mr. Lufrano does have personal stake in the company since he sells these products to make a living, but he really had trouble in that thread believing what these individuals were saying about his products. If he would have listened to them, and took them into consideration before he jumped down someone's throat, the thread couold have been much more productive. Instead, he tried to smear the name of some other individuals as well as other companies and it got ugly...

Disagreements should be the basis for an informative discussion on forums like these. It is too bad many of these discussions turn into flamewars or heated disagreements because some people refuse to hear the opposing side's reasons for believing what they believe. No forum will ever be able to get around that, because there will always be people who refuse to listen.
