I personally feel we need to pull out of the middle east, find new sources for our oil, and let them kill eash other, then go back once they are all dead, and take all the oil we need after out alternative sources have died up in a few thousand years

 

i dont see what the big deal is with oil and the middle east. we get 4% of our oil from the middle east. most of it comes from venezuela...where its like .20/gallon--crazy stuff.

im in the national guard, so i probably shouldnt say this, but i disagree strongly with how the contracts for rebuilding iraq are working out. they have 300 BILLION bucks in oil, why do WE have to pay to rebuild their country? not only that, but the company doing it gets free reign to charge what they want for it.

We actually do get less than 50% of our oil from the Mid-East. In fact, between Alaska, California, and Fla we could supply our country as well as sell to other countries throughout the world.

It is a political thing, plus they talk about "military supply". Funny, have you ever lived neat an AFB? I worked right at the main gate of El Toro MCAS. every 2 weeks they would burn tens of thousands of gallons of unused jet fuel .

Anyhoo, I agree wwith you Nizzy. Frankly I think the best man won the election last time around (and that doesn't say much for Al Gore ). However, Bush sends our military over there to battle Saddam, and while they were over there he CUT VA benefits. Send them into the toilet then shit on their heads while they are there. Funny, a whole lot of Republican Financial supporters are getting these jobs over there, while our boys are dying in a new Vietnam, where we aren't wanted by the very people we are there to "fight for". Sounds like a dictator striving for self-preservation... and no, I'm not talking about Saddam.

The capture of Saddam is a good thing (if it is true, which I question, funny at this time near elections a guy that simply "kinda" looks like Saddam is captured, Hmmmm) however, the killing will not end. My feeling is that military opposition and Sadam's sympathisers are going to turn up the heat a notch (remember, there have been a rash of bomings in the mid-east since then, all against US allies, sympathisers and supporters). Alot more of our boys are going to die. But at least republican backers can be assured of financial gains in the future, paid for by you and I .

By the way, the above comments come from a Republican who is fed up with what the Bushs have done to our country. I love the deal with the 12 million Illegals being allowed to recieve SS and other benefits that I am paying for. I'm also glad that he keeps cutting taxes, and cutting taxes, putting the country back into debt, so they can be raised again to make up for his fuck-ups... but hey, at least it should be enough to get him re-elected.

I hate to say it, but Clinton was FAR better then the Bushs could even imagine being... also of worthwhile note, Clinton's economic policy that the Republicans bashed so heavily, were simply Reganomics... the best financial plan this country has ever seen, and devised by a Republican .

I gotta end this. I have had a few beers and if I climb on my political pulpit like this, it may get ugly .

 

im sorry, i incorrectly remembered my numbers. i did some reading and it wasnt quite as i remembered...but the point remains, i think the reasons for being in iraq are fubar.

just as with seth, i grew up a republican, but know that im learning more about politics, i refuse to vote republican. the rich are supposed to get tax cuts, at the cost of social security and other government programs, while the poor lose their social security (WHICH THEY PAID INTO!). i still dont like al gore, but i wish he would have become our leader, because i think we would likely be better off right now.

i think that we took over iraq for control of the oile, and that is NOT right. we have the rich legalizing whatever they damn well feel like doing because they can pay the lobbyists. i want the lobbyists the F*CK outta my government. they cater to the few and screw the many.

Its the most used natural resource in the world besides water my friend...and the crazy bastard was setting the wells on fire and dumping entire pipelines into our ecosystem...it took some 2 or more YEARS to put all the well fires out .... and nothing was done to him for it....2 years of some wells flowwing TONS OF OIL ASH INTO YOUR AIR MAN....which is soaked up into clowds and into your water systems...

Do not forget this is the same f*cknut that was testing chemical weapons on his own people....

Fact is we can supply ourselves with oil for many years without raising prices...but some order of control rich punks raise the prices arbitrarily to buy a new yacht every now and then...The alaskan pipeline and the gulf rigs alone can carry the entire country easily the rest is cash crop.... fact is..we stock pile it....use other countries oil to conserve our own resources....

The evidence that was shown to congress may not have been chemical weapons you must understand this....that may have been a smoke screen but what if it was Swiss Bank account statements showing mountains of money being washed from BinLadins accounts into iraq or vise versa to support one or the other....or to buy yellow cake....there is no telling....if one was even trying to move in that direction it would have been good enough reason to flatten the entire mountain range as far as i'm concerned.

Ya'll wanna talk about Halliburton?....I worked hand in hand with them...yeah...i worked on a drilling rig for years.... <---class I roughneck first mate on the Hathcock Rig when i was 18yrs old i was running rods in the ground and slingin steel ..... Halliburton is the only company with enough resourses to do something like that in the first place...they have the communications and techniques to run rigging and even reverse flows... they are the best in the business and any rig company will tell you that....when we pumped cement around the opening of our wells and deep settings....Halliburton was on site pumping cement from 2 rigs coupled together watching the pressure on laptops commumincating with headsets and state of the art techniques...
They also have the raw man power to send out there to do the medial tasks ... everything from cleanup crews to sandwitchmakers....better to have one company doin that kind of stuff to keep the flow of money accounted for....

Do i trust the government...HELL NO...but i have more common sense to think it was all about oil...because you don't see use capping off oil heads and pumping them into boats and toating it back here for our own use....hard to hide a tanker filling up. Ironically, I voted for Bush solely because I wanted to avoid war in the middle east...
Remember, Gore was running with Leiberman. Lieberman had an Israeli citizenship. Oddly, I thought THAT might spark something off in the middle east... it's one thing to be an ally to Israel... it's another thing to have the impresion that there's actually what might be perceived to be "an Iraeli" as a top official in the US government.
The prospects of that were frightening...

Honestly, that was my only basis behind my vote.
I never imagined (I'm sure no one could have) the events that transpired that launched us overseas... and I certainly wasn't picturing "Daddy's vendetta" to play out.
