    from cartronixplus.com

"First is the unbelievable efficiency of class BD digital technology. These amps run 2 - 4 times more efficient than class AB amps. This means this amp will make a real 2800 watts RMS but only draw as much power from your cars alternator as a typical 500 - 1000 watt amp! Rockford's class BD amps are also superior to regular class D amps in that the proprietary technology allows them to play with ultra low distortion. Regular class D amps have tremendous distortion, Rockford Fosgate design changes all this!"

What I'm asking everyone is do you think that it really draws as much power as a typical 500-1000 watt amp would? I'm asking this because this amp could save me money buy not having to upgrade my alternator.

haha yeah right...that amp will pull more than 80-100 amps of current

This class "BD" tech is basically a class D design...same efficiency as a class D amp..

    From Rockfords website

"Class-bd amplifiers have 75-80% efficiency ratings vs. 20-60% efficiency ratings of traditional class A/B amplifiers."

in a nutshell it is a class D design
