I have a kicker zx1000.1 with direct + power from the battery on a 8ga line. I know I need a bigger line but Im wondering if that is the only problem. The issue is the protection/power cuts off on really heavy bass. Im running a 60-amp fuse on the 8ga wire. I thought I might need a capacitor but my lights dont dim. So is it just the power wire? Im only running 8's and about 1/2 max volume the amp shuts down.

Also the battery is an almost new Optima, alternator pushes 14-16

Whats the fuse rating onthe amplifier, that 60 amp fuse seems a little small for the zx1000, that 8 gauge wire could be choking your amp for current. Kinda like a fire hose hooked up to a regular faucet, the nozzle is asking for more water but cant get it. Also check all your ground wires.

its deff the small power wire. it can not supply the current needed for the bass notes your trying to play.

i bet at low vol its fine right?
