    Hello,

I attempted to install this unit today and for some reason, I can't get the thing to power on. My car came without a radio so I had to identify the power and ground wires using a volt meter. To test the power, I connected another 12VDC device and it powered up just fine. I connected the ACC/red wire to the postive and the blk wire(groung) to the ground wire. Does the ground need to be attatched to the frame?

    Thanks,

I used my volt meter to determine 12vdc and ov. i even powered another device using these power leads and it worked just fine.

What kind of car is it? The pioneer Radio needs power on the yellow wire, the red wire and for now hook the ground to any chassis (metal) point in the car.

Now if it don't turn on post back

It's a 1993 Nissan Sentra. Do I wire the red and yellow wire together with the 12VDC?

no.the yellow is a constant power lead.for memory.

I see. So I wire the 12vdc to the red acc wire and the black wire to the frame of the car?

And the Pioneer needs both power leads hooked up. The red wire goes to the 12-volt ACC wire and the yellow goes to a 12-volt constant source. And the black goes to chassis

I think you've got it, just remember that both power wires need to be hooked up.

Well, I hooked up both the yellow and the red wire to the same 12VDC power source and the radio now functions. Is there any harm in doing this? I wasn't able to find a constant 12VDC but I do get voltage from a red wire when the car is on.

    Thanks

well you may not be able to store any radio stations.the yellow wire needs a constant 12 volts.

you may be able to wire it to a constant power sorce from the fuse box,but double check behind the dash again before you go that route.

    Update

I went ahead and exchanged the 1900 for the 2900. The good news is that the unit is up and running, the bad news-the airbag light on my car won't go off now and the clock located on my dash isn't working-oh well at least I have some decent sound in my ride now.

    Thanks for all who replied.
