I know some of you guys collect speakers, amps, etc. Stuff that isn't even in your car, but that you have sitting around doing nothing but collecting dust. Anyone else have any other addictions that you just seem to drop money on even when you shouldn't? I'm trying to save up money to get the rest of the pieces of the system together for the daily driver, but low and behold, I go to the mall today and come home with two new pairs of shoes. LoL I dont have a huge collection of shoes by any means, but alot of my friends can't figure out why a guy would have eight good pairs of shoes/boots. I just gotta have a few different choices so I can pick what I want to wear with what, because you know you can't just wear a black pair of shoes with a blue shirt or a grey pair of shoes with a brown shirt or....

    The list:
Axion Kareem Campbell (navy/grey with yellow accents)
Globe Challenge (all white, gotta have one set of clean white kicks)
DC Shoes Anthony Van Engelen Avenue (brown/light brown/white)
DC Shoes Stevie Williams Scenario (charcoal grey/grey)
    New Balance 470 (navy/grey/white)
    Nike Shox NZ (white/blue/grey)
Nike Air Max Majikan (black/silver with red accents)
And the good ol Dr Martens (brown), gotta love 'em. Got the low cut ones with the foam sole, not rubber, very comfy.

Also have about four more pairs of shoes that I rarely wear (Vans, another pair of DCs that I wear to work everyday, a pair of Sketcher boots, and a pair of steel toed Caterpillar boots that are torn to all hell from UPS).

I wonder how much money I've got tied up in shoes alone? (pauses to calculate) A touch over $600 in the eight pairs I wear everyday and another estimated $200 in the four pairs that are near the end of their life and worn out. Wow, thats alot of audio equipment, or better yet, money saved. I'm cutting myself off from buying any more shoes.

New Years Resolution: No new shoes for 2004 (except for a pair of shoes for work since my DCs I wear now are worn out, trying to find a pair of New Balances on sale for cheap but haven't came across any yet).

I collect toy GNs, and Olds 442s (I own a GN and owned a 442) knives and guns.

The knives are not the hand made kind, just superior or rare mass produced knives.
I have a set of 3 that snap open like a switchblade (Kershaws), I have a true 6 inch switchblade, a 200 year old Camel bone pocket knife, My great grandpa's pocket knife, an Ulu Knife, a stag handle knife with a wavy blade, and a killer Pewter Buck knife that was a special edition. When they rebuilt the Statue of Liberty the copper from the torch was melted down and Buck made LE knives with some of the copper encrusted in the handle... I got more, here's a pic. If anyone wants to know more just ask:

Guns, they are all hunting and milityary rifles and shotguns. Not a big collection, but big enough and pretty rare. None of these are made anymore 16Ga Ithica Deerslayer, 20 Ga Ithica Model 20 (single shot), Winchester lever action .222, Mossberg 151M-C (Military Carbine), and my first rifle, my Nylon .22. Again, questions? Just ask:

Hey Seth, you would like my dads gun collection. He's got some old blunder busses (sp?) that are over 200 years old. And as for knives, he's got some pretty cool looking old swords. And the neatest thing is his suit of armor. It's not one you can wear. It's what they call "castle armor", used for show.

I've always wanted a collection of guns and knives/swords, but I just dont have that kind of cash. I'm more into handguns and fancy type swords though, but then again, that kind of stuff is very expensive for one, amd secondly people piss me off so bad when I'm driving that having a gun close by wouldn't be the best thing for me. LoL

No, but I also should mention I do have a small collection of coins (a few silver dollars, an old Italian coin (cast with Latin inscription) and a few other fairly worthless, yet things I enjoy. I also collect Football trading cards, and a few baseball cards. My highest dollar football card being a Barry Sanders Rookie in certified mint condition, and my 2 biggest baseball cards are an Ernie Banks 3rd year, and a willie Mays 6th year. Believe it or not, the Banks card is worth almost 3X as much as the Willie Mays, and Willie is barely worth more than Barry.

    Close enough?

    Not other hobbies?
    That doesn't count towards expense?

Holy cow... I spent almost $2000 this year in kite surfing gear alone...

And on top of that, skateboarding gear and shoes cost me probably $250 or so this year...
Had to buy a pass at the local ski resort or not ride this winter... $100
...and the prospects of having to buy some new snowboard boots... holding off...

And let's not even get into car audio.

Let's talk about the cheap hobbies!
I modify little tiny model cars:

Hey, Seth... Ever seen any of the Jada Toy Grand Nationals?
Don't suppose wild custom GN's, do you?
Or wouldn't those fit into the collection?

These ones are similar, but have stock paint schemes:
More in keeping with the collection?

The red one I said is not a stock scheme, because these are all supposedly '87's. ;)
Although I suppose that would blow the one with the silver out of "stock scheme" too... but it's actually pretty accurate for the early GN scheme, I thought.

I collect computers and just about anything related. Parts, old systems, monitors, keyboards, mice, and the occasional server. Occasionally I'll buy something for my main computer, wich is were the most costly parts accumilate.

    Main Rigs Current Configuration:

    Blue Koolance Water Cooled Case

Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard <---Northbridge is water cooled.

AMD XP2700+ Processor <---Water Cooled by the Koolance

2X256MB Sticks of Samsung RAM <---Soon to be replaced with 2X512MB Kingston HyperX RAM

MSI Geforce 4 Ti4400 <---Also water cooled, also on the replacement list. Not shure whats going to replace it yet.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card

Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM, 36GB, 8MB Cache SATA <---A second one in RAID 0 would be nice. :D

    Lite-On 52X24X52 CD-RW <---DVD Burner once they mature a little more

    System Total: $1367
Not bad I guess. That was spread across about 2 years. I usually go for the best performance/price ratio I can.

I used to have a Lite-On DVD-ROM drive but it died. Thats getting replaced on the 25th Along with a Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Set.

Other than that I bring home whatever junk I can from work (Computer repair shop.). Mmmm free stuff. I usually part out the good stuff and toss the junk.

Other than the occasional computer part the rest of my cash gets thrown into the bank for hopes of a new car in the summer. Can you say WRX Wagon!? :)

    heh...
I've got an older IBM AS/400 midrange system here I'll sell to you cheap... I'm not using it anymore.

If you can afford to ship it that is... it only weighs about 500 pounds...
I've got a couple tape drives, some networking gear and cabling, the master console terminal, and even a couple of 8-port Twinax hubs... really never used any of them here. :D

I was going to bring it up into my new family room when it's done and turn it into a conversation piece.

I have the red one, and an amazing gold fleck paint on it too, really beautifully detailed inside and out

I found a white one yesterday but it was mauled...

I am still looking for the Silver/Black and Black car (If you see them in the store, pick 'em up for me Chris, I'll drop the info here if I find it first ;) ).

Actually the silver and black was a stock scheme on the 82 GNs

Also, almost every color was available on the Turbo Regal (which is essencially the same thing). However, the markings on the car are very GN, not TR. To add a bit of info to their appearance being accurate, these models sport the grill of the 84-86 GNs not the all black 87 grille (if you look at my grille you will see chrome on the center and outer edges, as well as a wide top band, mine is an 86).

But yes, I have seen them and yes they will reside in my collection.

No thanks Geo. I've got a beast of similar size and weight. An Alphaserver 2100. I'm currently using it as second desk. :D

Though the 8-port Twinax hubs sound intresting :) Are they 10/100 or just 10mbs?

They are old... the server itself is about a 10 year old.
    I'd guess 10, I honestly don't know.
They are boxed up with the other peripherals and cabling...
I only ever had it set up here with the console on it, and it's got a chassis-installed tape drive on it. It didn't have any NIC cards so I couldn't do anything fun like uploading data to play with off my PCs at home here or anything. :(

I used to work on an AS/400 at a former employer, had developed a nifty set of business intelligence tools (DB2 based analysis tools, data warehousing and data mining), I wanted to play with it, and found one at a local auction... oh well. :p

    So...
You are looking for the silver/black original '82 paint scheme, eh?

Well.. guess what I just picked up. ;)
I thought that one was actually pretty cool, with the Jada DUB City car... that paint scheme in particular... all tricked out riding on some very cool 5-spoke chrome 22's, with (I kid you not) a playstation installed in the car with the controller sitting on the seat.

    So - Merry Christmas! B)

Only thing is, I need your address...
