Is people who wait for people to load up their car in grocery parking lots, just to get their parking space. There should be a heavily enforced law that if it isn't open, you move on. I just had a guy do that to me, and continuously ignored my honking of the horn. Then he had the gall to get out of his vehicle and ask me to back up so the person he was waiting for could get out. This short fat man definitely needed the extra excercise, but he had to hold up several people instead just to get a semi close spot. He's lucky I'm a nice guy. Because he defniitely had several pounds on me, but I'm much taller and much more meatier.

I'm a jerk to those people though. When they wait for the parking spot I'm in, I won't move. I will just stay there until they finally move on.

    End rant.

The irony is that people that actually care about their vehicles intentionally drive a few spots past where the day's current parking activity is (if not completely to a remote area of the lot), so that they are safe from door dings...
I'll park up front if its the first one adjacent to a handicapped spot (as there are wide lanes to either side of a handicapped spot, and you can inch into them to leave plenty of room on the other side as well)...but otherwise, you're taking a chance on expensive bodywork, or simply saying "I don't care". 'They' are out there - fear them. ;)
My pet peeve are idiots that fling their doors open (and then generally look like it's a monumental effort to actually get up out of their seats), without regard for where they are, or what is next to them... god forbid that the wind might be blowing... no foresight, no sense - common or otherwise.

I have to agree with you on that one. I actually had my car break down on me in a parking lot about a year ago. I was sitting there waiting for my dad to show up with tools. I'm sitting in the car and some lady opens up her truck door and slams it into the side of my car. I mention it to her, and she apologizes. Luckily she hit the molding and there was no damage. She pulls out and a guy pulls into her spot. He opens the door and flings it into my car. I started yelling at him. He gave me his card to pay for the damages.

I don't blame you for parking so far away. I personally don't mind far spots either as you don't have to worry about traffic as much either and I need the excercise. But when people are rude enough to block the drive to those far spots.................. ;)

I got an even better story

My Boss Drives a Brand new Nissian SUV, Pretty nice, anyway went to lunch together when we were at the same location we just got back and pulled in to a parking place. Some old guy was getting in to his Buick next to us so I waited why he got in before getting out myself... AS he was backing up is Turend the wheel sharp and ran his front finder right in to the side of the SUV

Luckly it just hit the Tire so there was no damge

the Funny thing was we has just got done talking about how old people should not drive ROFL :) :lmfao:

one time i went to academy, there were 2 spots open right in front so i pulled all the way through the first spot into the one across so i could just put it in drive and take off when i left
i get out of my truck and close my door and BOOM...my truck moves
some moron in an expedition pulls into the spot behind me and rear ends me before i could even lock my door
i was pissed to say the least, then i walked back there and remembered my trailer hitch was on the truck (i keep it on there for times EXACTLY like this...so theyll hit it and never make it to my bumper)
anyway, it had missed his licence plate by about a 1/4" and put a big ass crack in his front bumper...gotta love fiberglass
i started laughing, the guy got out and i told him i really dont care--it didnt do any damage to my truck and he said ok
so i locked my truck and went inside
    moron....

Not only does parking a little farther out save you from dings from other cars and shopping carts, but I've found many times when a person is waiting for a real close parking spot, the time they wait is usually greater than the time it would have taken to walk from the wide open spot just a few cars up all the way to the store. This problem is especially terrible down here in SoCal during the xmas shopping season. Try going to a mall where you may have 10 cars in front of you and car number 1 is doing the waiting "thing"...argh. Oh, and we have a couple malls down here that are so busy and hairy that they actually have traffic lights throughout the parking lot.

they were doing 2-3x that average.. WOW

I love sittiong there and wasting time in the car when you know they are waiting for your spot. It always makes my day to see them just sit there waiting.
