ug....tubes You would have thought they'd have gone the way of 8 track players by now.....oh well I vote for the HU.... that thing sure is perty..... BTW Sandt, have you seen that Tru is now making a tube amp?(Tube hybrid of course)..... Not sure if you care, just noticed your interested in tubes.
Yeah, but the Butlers supposedly sound nicer, I hear they are very warm. Also, the Butlers are almost 1/3 the price of the Tru Copper (if you know where to look), and MUCH nicer looking IMHO.
Really? You got a link to the butler amp? I saw them a while back but dont remember what they look like. I think the copper series from tru is one of the best lookin amps. I love it. I agree though.... quite expensive. Too expensive for me.... not that I would ever buy a tube amp B)
That is probably their best looking HU i've seen in a while. Maybe aside from that Euro unit that used the Burr Brown DAC's. Still don't know that i could go back to Pioneer though....Eclipse will be the next venture i believe .
Which is the worst part of it! :stupid: But seriously, theres that 13 band PEQ which is definately nice, but i'd pass on it to the Butler amp. Thats the only big difference i see between the one you have and that one. Its purty, but heh, who cares? I barely use my 5 band PEQ. I could definately do without 13.
I think I found my new HU. Now the trouble is do I buy now or wait until SD and thezeb start to carry them for a price match. Prices may increase on this. what to do what to do.

Interesting statement there...who told you this? Not that many people have heard the TRU tube amps...
IMO every system ever designed could benifit from a 13 band parametric EQ
If it is used properly it CAN help. IMO, if you have to use all 13 bands of EQ on your system, you need to look at your install more closely.
IMO every system ever designed could benifit from a 13 band parametric EQ
I currently use NO EQing. All my processing is amplifier, and my component crossovers. I do everything with install. Anyone who has sat in my car will tell you, it is VERY neutral. But, I have a feeling that when I do get done with my kicks I may need to dial down some around 10KHz, as the closer to on axis install promises to be considerably more bright than I prefer (which is another reason the Butlers are on my mind).
well Tru has a Hybrid and a True Class A true Tube amp. 25 watts rms . I prefer the sound of a tube my self. To each is there own.

I dunno... EVERY system has small(maybe tiny ) response variations that could be corrected. Ive sat at someones house and listened to Wilson audio "Watt Puppies" (~$20,000)and even those benifited from an EQ when we listened. EVERY house, car, whatever has diifferent reflections, diffraction, cancelation ect..... so no response will be perfect.
Who said they couldn't? I'm sure many would have a good use for the EQ, but i only stated that i dont use my 5 band PEQ, so i could do without a 13 band. I'm not much on EQing. If i had to choose between an HU who's only benefit over my current HU is looks and a 13 band para EQ, and a butler tube amp, or any amp that interest me actually, i'd take the amp.
We have the option of picking up Butler amps. But the buy-in is too high and we would probably never sell any. We haven't sold that many Arc amps, so I know no one would buy the Butler amps. The people around here just don't appreciate the finer things. That Pioneer head unit does look nice. I wish I could find (and afford) a similar processor to the 4000X so I could run a newer head unit.
