I just bought my new reciever today (tee-hee  ). I was going to get the new Pioneer Elite VSX53-TX. It is definately a nice unit, but I stopped by my local Pioneer Elite dealer (I buy all my HT from him now, awesome prices and tremendous service) and spoke with him about last years equivalent to the 53 model the Elite VSX43-TX. It turns out he has none left, but his store in Winston-Salem had 1 VSX45-TX. I got the unit for $770 out the door. That is a full $200 less than the 53, which retails for almost $300 less than the 45 did last year!!! Essencially I am getting the VSX55-TX. Excited? Yes... I am picking it up later this week. Reciever porn:
IT IS HERE!!!! I tried to mount it in the GM double DIN, but it wouldn't fit  . This thing weighs more than my Brahma does. Built likt a tank. I will add some pics when I get home this evening.
Mmmmmmm, yummie. All Elite electronics are friggin' nice. If they've improved their TV's, they might very well be the best HT line from top to bottom. I'm still using my crappy 75x5 to power the Def Techs. Weren't you looking at seperates (pre/pro-amp) a while back??? Maybe it was someone else B) I've always leaned toward Yamaha and Denon, though. One of these days I'll uprgade...
Oooo, sexy!!! With a Rava, this is a huge unit. It is so deep and so tall I had to relocate the reciever to the top shelf of the rack. For more pics, look at the "elite45 labled pics Here. Look at the size of the remote :baby: . Awesome unit that is so heavily featured it will take months to get through it all.
Elite RPTVs are the best out there. Their Plasmas are also the best I have seen (although I have not seen the Marantz or Fujitsu units, which are easily double the cost of the Elites), but I still think plasma has 5 to 10 years to go before I get one. I am just not impressed with ttheir picture quality or high dollar maintanance costs. The reason I chose my TV is because it was the second best... This years Pioneer RPTV is last years Elite . It was heavily reccomended by people on HTtalk, and touted as the very best RPTV without the "Elite" logo on it. Pioneer has everyone beat in the TV department IMHO. To me the Yamaha's are WAY to bright and the Denon is too harsh also. I like the warmth of the Elite units. Unfortunately the Denon units are less expensive at the same store (I could have had a 3803 for $100 less than the Elite), but I just don't like them... too aggressive. Besides the 45 is more heavily featured. As far as Seperates... I want to do seperates when money permits a bit better than it does now. I am likeing the Butler tubes (5150 for surrounds and centers, and 2250 for Mains), and an Anthem AM200. Unfortunately I don't have an extra $12 grand just laying around. So I am using this reciever for now, and the preamp outputs will allow for expandability in the future. It does have full 7.1 with THX capability (not that I care about THX, but it is a selling point) for the preouts... Notice the preouts down the center of the rear of the unit.
