really want to upgrade my factory radio (2002 ford explorer sport trac). I want to spend around $200 and have narrowed it down to these two, the song MEX-BT3900, or the Alpine CDE-123. The sony have built in BT (which i really want to music streaming) while the Alpine has an optional BT box. I know Alpine is a good brand and sound amazin, but how do the sony's stack up these days? I thought they were bad a few years ago but the specs on the Sony sound amazing, 7 band EQ, converting my back speakers to a low pass filter mode, listening positions. It all sounds good but how does it stack up to the sound quality of an Alpine?

I don't know how the Sony compares to the Alpine, but I can tell you the Alpine is an outstanding unit. I also have the add on KCE 400BT. I've never looked back.

honestly look at the signal to noise ratio of each deck... alpine is 105 and sony is 120... sony is gonna sound cleaner then the alpine.. but the alpine has 4 volt pre amps.. which is better for external amps... but if ur just looking for best sounding.. the sony will win
