Just wanted to start a thread here that deals with music, after all, that what we are all into this for!

What I am talking about here is REAL music, not the latest greatest boy bands and the hottest chick singers. i am talking about music to LISTEN too. things that really make a sytem shine. Music that brings out the best of a mobile audio set up...

I have a few personal favorites to start it off.

    Allison Krauss and Union Station
Her voice really tests the vocal qualities of your speakers, her mesmerizing sounds will show any serious flaws in your system. The instuments are amplified acoustical banjo, fidddle, bass, and drums, with some steel guitar and mandolin. very well done

    Sheffield Drum and track record
This has various music on it, but what i alwys concentrate on is the solo drum tracks. being a drummer myself, i know what to listen for and how to anylze it. very well done recording, as is most Sheffield labs recordings.

There are many more that I listen too, just wanted to get the ball rolling

I am curious as to what others listen to, to anylze the SQ of your system....

Bach busters will hit bass notes you never heard before. Great test in sub proformance.

And I personaly enjoy listening to Pink floyd. I think the quality of the mixing is amazing. It always makes me shiver when the bass is just rummbing in the back, and you don't even notice it till the actual bass line comes in.

Hands down i must say The Diplomats - Diplomatic Immunity Disc 2. I burned a hand-full of fuses with this CD, it actually made me upgrade my fuse box entirly. The instruments are excellent if your looking for real nice clear sound and if you looking for base then you will also definitly feel the rumble. The base on this cd is not that worn out just simply raddling base its very power and steady.

Dream theater is awsome for subs. But it's not hard rock. it's straight up progressive metal. There's nothing funny about 16 min songs with 5 min drum solos. lol

Not sure what they have out now, but the dram theatre i remeber was more rock oriented, but this was over 10 years ago.....they may have changed thier style since then....
