Im planning on running these with a Kenwood KDC-MP532U. Has anyone used these? Should i consider an amp? (KAC-8402) I liked these becuase they are supposed to be good bang for the buck.

Decent radio but not great. No sub out, just front and rear. It does have a usb port. Unless you absolutely need the USB port, I would consider a radio with front, rear and Sub outputs. This way you can upgrade later. The least expensive unit with three outputs is the Kenwood KDC MP4032.

Kenwood speakers are OK and they will perform well. An amp will always improve performance. But if you were one of my customers and you were considering upgrading to an amp at a later date I would try to sell you the Polk Audio's speakers.

At my business Kenwoods have a super low failure rate so they would be a good choice, but in my opinion you could make a better choice if you add an amp later

Hope this helps you make an informed decision.

Youre a little bit late. I going for an Alpine CDA-9856. For speakers i think im getting Infinity Kappas 5.25" 2-way 52.71, and 6.5 2-way 62.71.

Do you mess with infinity stuff at your shop?

Mostly Kappa, but to be truthful I have not been that impressed. At low to moderate volume the speakers sound good. At higher levels the tweeters don't sound smooth. I am not a big fan of metal dome tweeters but I have heard some that sounded much better than Kappas. MB Quarts for example have a really smooth metal dome tweeter. The owner keeps Infinity around because of the infinity name.

We installed one set of infinity Perfects in a customers PU. A coil in the crossover melted after 2 days. We put his Alpine speakers and crossovers back in. At this point I want to say we made no ajustments to his system and the Alpines he had, had been in there 2-years. And are still working fine today.

I have a friend with a Mustang and a set of 5x7 Infinity Reference in the doors. These speakers sound good and are still going strong considering he has a 150 X 150 Watt RMS amp on them and he does crank it. They have survived for almost 2-years now.

We don't deal with Infinity amps, overpriced.

What would you recomend for a well priced amp? What do you think would be a good 70-100W RMS speaker?

I think the Kappa numbers you have listed are last years models. I think this years model number is 50.7CS and 60.7CS These Kappas use a Neodemium magnet (i bet I didn't spell it right). These are supposed to be a big improvement over last years but I have not been able to make a fair assesment of these speakers yet. My opinions are based on last years models (the numbers you have listed)

But I am the wrong person to ask. I am Biased. I love my Polks. My wife has MB Quartz in her car, they sound really good considering the really loud country music she plays. I figure any speaker that can survive Brooks n Dunn has got to be OK. Boston Acoustic was great a couple of years ago, but I haven' t messed with them recently. See if we can get more opinions on Bostons.

I have only installed a few of the new Kappa's and so far they have survived my customers. But before I jump on the Kappa bandwagon I really need to see if they are really an improvement over last years models. (jurys still out. ) I would not mind hearing more opinions on the Kappas. Everyone here seems to like them.

O.K I will try to explain the mentality of most of my customers. I know that none of them will see this because most do not know how to use a computer.

Most come to us and say "I need to beat" or "I ain't got no lows in ma ride". None of them even know what music is. They listen to that rap crap. (I think I remember my dad saying the same thing about my music 30 years ago).

Then they have the nerve to say that they are into sound quality. None of them can spell quality. Their exact words is "ma lows need to be cleeeen an tite"

The problem begins after I build and install one of my systems
"I can't heeeer ma highs, wheres ma highs, ken ya fix ma highs"

Now I have to try to figure out how to hear 6-1/2's over what I have just built.

But they are happy with the intense bass. I can tell. The shop lights up so much when they smile. ( too much gold in their teeth. ) I have to put on sunglasses.

The newer Boston Acoustics sound real nice...I got a friend with Bostons all around and they sound real clean with all types of music.

And Ranger...Who here isn't biased really? Everyone is biased even if they say they aren't
