I just have an Idea... I like a mean sounding muscle car, or a sports car that almost sounds like a bike... but sometimes I wanna ride in silence (for different reasons at different times).. I just wonder if there was something that could be engineered that the sound could be silenced with a switch of a button... and when you want your car to sound bad @$$ you flip the switch and rev that son of a gun.
Yes i remember seeing something like that a while back, try www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com and look in the exhaust section, it was made for muscle cars so when you went to the track you just flipped a switch to run open exhaust then switch it again to send it back through the mufflers. Dont know if they make anything for a Honda though. Just remember when you open up an exhaust you usually make a little more HP but lose torque and Civics blow when it comes to making torque.
they are called cut outs. they use the full exhaust until the switch is flipped then an electric motor opens a door and the exhaust can escape right after the collector.
have you guys heard of that thing that you can pick what you want your car to sound like? i think the sound comes over the speakers of the car though. http://www.vroombox.com/vroombox/
vroom box is going to make it actually sound decent cutouts are designed for muscle cars, essentialy designed to quiet them down. Watch Stacy Davids "gearz" on speed and other shows like that you can learn a lot.
You don't understand though.. I like unique stuff. which is why I want the big rig air horn for my civic. lol I'm wierd I kno...
What is it just a huge muffler with a smaller but still huge tip? Does just a bigger tip change the sound?
better view of that style... http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ape-auto~performance-Universal~High~Performance~Muffler.htm
everybody puts those on their cars here in the philippines. but the brands like hks and spoon are the ones i'd ever look at. the people that i know that use them use them because their civics are modified. 9 and 10 second cars. we do have a lot of cheaps ones here too but they are way too loud for my taste.
