I know this is a debatable issue, I tried reading the sticky discussing its needs but couldn't really follow. The reason I ask is I am getting all of my equipment installed soon and was told that I would need a capacitor from the guy and it would run me 100+ dollars. Here is what I am putting in a 2001 wrangler.

    Pioneer DEH4100 HU
    2 4x6 Type S speakers
    2 5-1/4 Type S Speakers
    10" Type R Sub
    500 Class D Mono Amp
    4 Channel Amp
And I have the big 3 upgrade

I thought doing the big 3 upgrade would be enough. Any input would be appreciated.

imo, a cap wont be needed in your case. i mean if you want to get one, you can. but i dont think you'll need it, you are running about 700-800 watts rms?? you'll be fine. also if you wanted to get something to help with voltage drops, check out the xs power d680 or the kinetik hc600. after getting rid of my cap and adding a battery in my trunk, i would never go back.

save your money and get larger gauge cable, or a small spl battery. maybe a kinetik 600 or a small stinger one.
