insulation effct in box

the effests of fill in the box are minimal...lining the walls will not result in much improvement other than helping midrange reflections.....If you wanna really make a BIG difference, you need to stuff it real good! The dacron/insiulation does its job by slowing don the waves and acrtually heating the air, this makes the speaker think it is in a larger box, the effects, at best are 10-20%.....In a small box, that aint much...in a bigger box, it can make a true difference

 

never had the pleasure of owning any dbx equipment, other than playing with it in the home audio sections on the slaes floor years ago. I made a few dbx recordings...sounded very good.....the noise was mostly gone, but the dynamic range effects on some of the other equipment sounded a little odd at times...but was a very cool technology.....

 

What does the insulation do to the sound of a sub? I've seen it, but don't know what it does. If i have a box with 2 subs in there, would I need to divide the sub wit 2 walls

 

Adding poly fill to a normal sized sealed box will not make much of a difference.

But if you have like a 2 cu ft sealed box or bigger than yeah you will notice a difference.

All it does is like Viking says...converts the backwave into heat and makes the sub think that the box is a little bigger than it really is
