ok I have more than one question here, I'm working on a 2000 dodge durango with the stock infinity system. We replaced the front speakers with mid range kickers ds62 model and they didn't sound anywhere near as good as the stock ones did after testing the impdance of the speakers we found that they are 2ohms and most aftermarkets are 4, so we found a pair of infinity 2ohm reference 6032cf put those in, sounded a little better than the kickers but still not close to the stocks but of course the Infinitys were full range speakers and not mid bass which could of need why they didn't have as much bass. So for the question. What do I need to do to get that same sound as the stockspeakers with aftermarkets? 1-were these two sets of speakers we tried just not powerful enough(60 watts rms each) 2-do we also need to change to an after market head unit if going with after market speakers or is that not the case. 3-when using after market components do you HAVE to us the crossover it came with or can you just hook them up in place of the stock speaker with the stock crossover. 4-or will the only way to get that same sound as the stock speakers be to reorder some new stock speakers from the dealer.
to answer #1 .. speakers don't have power. they do have a S/N rating. maybe the stock speakers have a higher s/n than the aftermarket ones you got. #2 you don't need to change your head unit unless you want too. #3 if you bought separates then use the crossover, if you bought coaxials then you just wire them up. #4 if you want it louder then buy an amp to power the speakers with more power than the head can supply.
Alright thanks, #4 is what i was thinking, probably also need a good amp to power aftermarkets to there full potential. And if we do that we might as well throw in a aftermarket head unit with rca connection, would make it alot easier but i think we can just order some replacement stock speakers.
