what i have: rockford t1001bd on 2 rockford p3's 12" 4ohm/vc. i need a sloped box out side dim 44w x 15h x 11d1 x17d2. ported
also ....how much can "polyfill" help....the ported box tuned to 40hz... my plan was to build a sealed box with 2 RF P3412's @ 3.95cf with ports built and installed but just not cut for a venten box.......what are your thoughts about this?????
Personally I like sealed boxes. However a great majority of people really like the sound of ported boxes. I would go ahead and port the box. Its easier to do it now then later. Also, I would not seperate the chambers. One chamber per 2 woofers is the rule I use. Anyway thats my 10 cents worth
You box is pretty big for a sealed box. Polyfill is always helpful in a sealed box but in a box that big, I dont see it improving the performance. In a ported box, I would only use a little glued to the sides, and bottom. If you using a really good quality contact cement (Weldwood) the a little on the top would be OK. We need to glue it because over time it has a tendency to come out the port if we dont.
the P3s are really good subs i have a P3d415 it is a nice sub i had it in a prefab box and justbuilt oe recently only about 3.3cuft tuned to 37hz but it hits so much harder oh and its a ported box
the box is big so if i do not like the sound of the sealed box..then all i have to do is cut out the port opening and i will have a vented box. I will already have built the ports into the box...but just not cut the baffle. I just need to know how long to make them. 4.0 cf box tuned to 40 hz 2 subs P3D412 spec's ohms 2x4 voice coil 2.5" speaker displacement .094 cf fs- 27 qts .52 xmax .528 spl 85 rms 500 max 1000
