I will probally by a PS2 as well, but got a pretty good deal on the XBOX and from what I have read teh XBOX is more powerful so the games can be better with the Xbox,

plus over all I do think the XBOX is a little better than the PS2, the only thing the PS2 has over XBOX is a Larger Game Libary since it can play all the PS1 games as well as the PS2 games

Find me a PS2 for $150 or less and I will buy it

    PS2 brand new is $179...

I've played both and personally I prefer the PS2. If you are into online gaming the X-box is better, but Sony owns videogaming.

    Jeffrey,
You'd best start respecting your elders before I come down there and beat your ass :p I'll check out your website, but I doubt it is better than gamespot.

Console's suck. Computer gaming is so much better. You get better graphics, and a great deal more control.

    BTW, Halo for PC rocks.

well I got my xbox, dvd kit and 3 games for $150 ;)

and I have played both as well, but that means nothing, the systems are only as good as the games

from the SPECS the xbox is more powerfull

    Specs List

    Spec ------------------------ PS2 ------------Xbox
    Main Memory -------------- 32MB ---------64MB
    Bus Bandwidth ------------ 3.2Gbps ----- 6.4Gbps
    Polygon drawing ---------- 66Mps ------- 300Mps
    Graphics CPU ------------- 150Mhz ------ 233Mhz

see the XBOX is a more powerful system IMO the developers are being held back because they want to offer the same game on both the PS2 and the XBOX and since the PS2 is less powerful they have the make the game less powerful

Plus the Xbox has a Built in Hard Drive, and other stuff that just sets it above the PS2 in every way

I think Xbox is overall a better system but the controller is infact a disaster.

    Some good games:

    1)Halo
    2)Splinter Cell
    3)Nba Hoops(streets)?

I thought the Xbox controllers sucked too at first but then I got used to it and I tried playing PS2 one day and I thought the ps2 controller sucked. Hey Mike you need to get on Xbox Live and get soldier of fortune 2: double helix and if you like racing get motogp 2

Again with chiming in late, but XBOX is a fairly nice system for the money. I had a PS2 and sold it, and got a GameCube, but I like XBOX as well (all except for that controller, I hate that thing). GameCube might have more kid oriented games, but thats why I play games, to get back in touch with my inner kid, and also because I'm a big fan of the Zelda, Metroid, and Mario Kart series, and you can't get those anywhere else but Nintendo. Plus alot of games are being offered across all platforms now (Tony Hawk Underground, Need for Speed Underground, Soul Caliber II, etc) so I can still enjoy all the big games I want, plus have some exclusives. Hey Michael, did the place where you got specs on the PS2 and XBOX list specs for the GameCube as well? I'd like to know where it stacks up in there. If you like racing games, my buddy just got Project Gotham 2 and I haven't played it (didn't like the first one at all) and he loves it. He has a fighting game called Tao Fang and it's brutal, I LOVE that game. And grab those multi-console games I listed too, all awesome to play (THUG, NFSU, SCII).

    true....

also, there's more $$$ to be made for a good ps2 game than for xbox so companies spend more time developing/optimizing it for the ps2.... xbox, gamecube, pc... they're all 'afterthoughts' in a sense...

I'm an avid videogame freak. I have all systems (except GC that doesn't count).

Xbox is by far my favorite. The exclusive games are incredible, and the online "Live" experience is unbelieveable. The Xbox can be modded to add a bigger HD, and allow to play burned games. This new HD allows you to rip the games onto your Xbox HD, and not even need a disc.

    As for games:

    1st person shooter:
    Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3.

    Sports:
ESPN Football (All ESPN games are awesome)

    Racing:
    Prject Gotham Racing 2

    RPG:
Star Wars Knights of the Olde Republic

That should get you started. Also if you eve rplay with a bunch of people HALO is awesome when linking mutiple Xboxs up, and Fusion Frenzy when you just play yours.

Also, you NEED Xbox Live, the system has a built in Ethernet port, it was made for online game play.

    Hope this helps.

My roommate has a PS2 and Courtney (flawlesskid) has an Xbox that i've played a couple times in the last few days. To me, the Xbox has better graphics and it runs more smoothly, but the controller does indeed suck. I'm also used to the PS2 controller, so i'm a little biased. However, from what i understand there is an adapter to use the PS2 controller with the Xbox, so that'd solve my problem.

The Xbox can also be modded (which btw, Seth, if you haven't seen what Stefon has done with their Xbox, i highly recommend you check it out...it's pretty sick) to play downloaded games as well as music and whatever else...it basically works like a PC.

I think i've just talked myself into buying an Xbox... <_<
