I just found out that one of the moderators here is into gliders. I have been flying gliders for over 20 years. I design and build my own models. I scratch build from nothing and make molds and the whole nine yards. Im into Dynamic soaring and I am very close(so are others) to breaking the speed record of 301MPH. Our planes are designed to pull 70 to 90G's. They fly as far as a football field in one second. Im new to this forum and It would probably be easiest to post links to videos if someone is interested in seeing it happen. I also have a CNC foam cutter and cut foam cores for vaccum bagging for some of my models. Most of the material is carbon fiber but there is some s-glass and kevlar here and there.

I am into a little bit of the sailplane scene, not much, the hills and slopes of Mo. dont offer a whole lot except for the nice thermal here and there.....i am more into glow powered flight.... the sailplane i have is a SIG riser, actually its my third one!!!!! i love that little sailplane!!!! Wih the power pod on top, i have had flights of over 1 hour on it......good for me anyway!!!!! the moter only runs about 6 or 7 minutes, then you better find a nice thermal!!!!!! the hawks and the few eagles around here in the country side make for a nice chlue!!!

It is one of the most enjoyable hobbies i have ever gotton into. Can be expensive, or cheap if ya know what to do....

To break the 301 mph record in a glider is AMAZING to even fathom! i am sure conditions must be PRECISE and ON QUE!!!!!!! I wish you Luck in it!!!!! i am sure you will need it!!!!!!!!!!!

Now thqt i know of someone that deals with foam wings and airfoils on line, i think this thread might get lengthy and winded at times!!!! I have designed a few simple basic airfoils for balsa construction, simple flat bottoms more than anything, they flew OK on an old trainer i have laying around for such things..... One actually far better than the original wing design.....

but anywho......look forward to more discussion on this topic!! been awhile and have forgotton quite a bit it seems!!!!!!
