I need honest input from ALL of you. In todays current stream of PC's and music and such, I find that the current highend home audio sytems are not as popular as they were years ago. With that said, i find that todays listener is looking for a few key things. 1 cost 2 Loudness 3 appearance 4 sound quality 5 ease of use And not in that particuylar order. What I am getting at is the fact that more and more folks use the PC for audio and music than ever before. And what i am asking is what do YOU look for in the purchase of PC speakers? AND, why? I have a few ideas and a few thoughts here and want to get some input. ALL you folks that rarely post...do so NOW......This is important for several reasons. Some of you on this board may benefit from this....though not till i find out more.... Thanks for your replys!
what do I look for in PC speakers? Well. I only buy 2.1 systems. They are perfect to play anything.. music , games, whatever. Anything more than 2 speakers plus a sub is just a waste. Next I look for how much power does it put out because I want it to get loud at times if its music or the sound of me firing a bazooka at a sniper nest. Then, I look at how big the sub and the enclosure its in is.. the bigger the better normally for that life like rumble of explosions. Next, I make sure there is a headphone AND microphone jack on one of the main speakers so I can plug my headphones with mic into the speaker itself so I dont have to get behind the computer to do so. So to break it down. 2.1 system lots of wattage bigger sub and enclosure spot to plug in headphones and mic on the speaker.
I look at both sound and cost. Price was right, free. Polk had a promotion many years ago, buy two pairs of polk speakers and get a Polk AMR50 (computer speakers) for free. Its a sub with two satelite speakers and they really sound good. Now for home speakers, I like my really older Pioneers, they work well, and they were cheap.
I hate computer speakers, they are very tinny and have no bass. If i buy speakers to sell with a computer then i make sure they are powered and come with an ac adapter. I just run my computer straight to my onkyo 600 watt home surround system and it sounds amazing. They do have 5.1 and up powered surround speakers for computers also. They run about $80.00 and up for a good set.
i have gone through so many speakers on only my computter. (more then in my vehicles). I run my pc through a reciever and now i have 4.1 surround sound hooked up to them and its freaking loud. I like loudness and something that thumps. I think i might be getting something even bigger.
OK...What is the MOST you would pay for a set of "pc" speakers????? Ones that truely kick ass...in both SQ and bass....
you can see a lot of speakers here for the PC http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&SubCategory=60&N=2010370060 the most i think i would spend is at least maybe 150, but this is just me. This 150 dollar speakers would be at least 5.1 surround and have to last a very long time.
I think I'm finally satisfied with the speakers I got. i got 6.1 surround only hooked up to a 4 channel receiver. The receiver is very old and I got it for free and i traded a old external 52x Memorex cd burner for the speakers.
