I have the alpine head unit CDA-9886

    and i just recently hooked up 2 10 " alpine type s (SWS-1023D) subwoofers

    I have a 1 channel mono alpine amp running them ( MRP-M1000 )

The reason i choose alpine is i got them super cheap and type S

is all i could fit under my seat. We have competely tuned my amp.

when we go past a certain amount of volume and bass it will shut off my amp

then i must restart my truck or restart my head unit. The installer said that it is because

of the alpine pre outs? not enough voltage? is this true i have never heard of

this happening to anyone else. I would like some other views and opinions. :)

he says if i buy a new deck it would do that? please help! thanks guys!

in my truck if i go a lil nuts with the bass i can shut my amp off too.

what is your gain set too? also how long before your amp shuts down? is it hot when it does?

No it doesn't matter if its hot or cold, it will do it either way. I was wondering

if its something to do with the install? because i have friends with pretty

much the same kind of setup just different brands and there amp wont shut

off it they go past a certain volume. I am not sure about the gain because

they did it professionally at best buy, but i can look. The installers say its my apline deck

it doesn t have enough pre out voltage? it seems werid.

not enough pre out voltage? bull. back in the day 2v was the most you could get out of a deck. today thats minimum at best. most amps will handle that just as well as 5v or more. thats what the gain is for.

whats the final ohm load on the amp? if its too low i know that will shut an amp down quick.

that's what i'm thinking. maybe the final load is too low for the amp which is causing it to shut off. It can't be the stereo though.

I did a little checking and i found out that your subs are DVC 2ohm subs. now, you can either wire them at a 2ohm load or a .5ohm. You amp is 2ohm stable and it will put out 1000 watts at 2ohms. you just have to make sure the installer wired it at a 2ohm load and not a .5ohm load. a .5ohm load would cause your amp to shut down and go into protect.

if you can pull out the subs to see how they were wired, that would be best. here are the diagrams for your reference:

thats what i was thinking, its 4v so it should be good, and i know a friend

who has the same head unit as me and his doesn't do it. I am not to

technical with ohm load, I just know my subs are 2 ohm and the amp is 1000

X 2 omh? is it something there doing wrong because my friend has a 500

alpine amp and 1 type s. and his will shut off his amp at Like 10 volume its

HORRIBLE! ( note that they installed it too, at best buy) so i think its

something they are doing. Please if anyone has any ideas please let me know

alright i just got your post!! i will make sure its 2 ohm and everything. and pst back. thanks cccullen

alright I looked at how the subwoofers were wired and it looks like it was wired

to a 0.5 ohm! so we have it wired right now! but now after a couple days my

sub bass would cut in and out and sometimes work. we think it might be a

pinched wire or the RCA coming out of the head unit? any ideas. thanks for
    the help

.5 ohms! that would kill an amp quick.

or maybe some other kind of werid wiring? any ideas on the bass cutting in and out?

the amp can't handle .5 ohm load. that's why it's cutting out. You should rewire it in a 2ohm configuration shown above.

EDIT: when you amp cuts out does it go into protect?

    1. what gauge wires are you using?
    2. is your 12v line fused near the battery? does it equal the total of fuses in your amp/s?
    3. have you tried changing out your RCA's?

the amp light just stays blue and cuts off the bass till i restart my deck.

I have 4 gauge power and 16 gauge wire from a 1400 watt stinger kit.

the RCA's areN T pinched by the amp but could be in other places?

maybe the lower ohm load took its toll on the amp. any warranty on it?

yeah i got warranty on it  maybe it could be a cut or screwed into rca i might replace then see amp

your sub output on your deck may be bad...samething happened to me previously. the subs on my system would cut out when i barely ran them. do a signal test from the sub output to be sure

i had that problem with my system too, but it was because i had cheap 4 ga power wires. after i changed mine out to knukonceptz 0 ga, i was fine. but i've always been running like 1000+ watts on my stock alt..

well i took of the dash and changed out the RCA's and there is no sound still? so maybe the 0.5 ohm took its toll on the amp? the blue lights still on? and the subs are wired to 2 ohm, or maybe the sub out might be gone like you said? how do i check if its the deck?

well guys we figured out the problem! the amp was defective and the RCA cables had a hole in them and that was causing the cut in and out! thanks for alll the help everyone! :) you guys are awsome
