Hi Speedraccer, and welcome to the site, glad to have on board!

First off, just let me say this. The brands you have chosen are not going to serve you well. They are not of any real quality and the power ratings and figures as they state are exaggerated and unrealistic.

A Quality 100 watt amp will outperform that amp, and a quality sub even twice the price will probably out do that sub by a factor of 3!!!!

what i am saying is that if youy want a system on the cheap, it can be done, just dont go for equipment such as that. Kenwood makes a fine product that will do you very well, as will may others from other manufacturers.

    ok Speedy....

you want a few 12 inchers and an amp...fair enough. The cap...dont waste your money on one, Again, i dont care what anyone says..they are a joke and will do you NO good for performance....got it? With 300 bucks, it aint a huge budget, but can be done......

First off, what kind of car do you have?
Second, what kind of music do you like?
Third, be honest here, what kind of system ya want? a boomer or a Sound Quality sytem or a little of both?
Fourth, do you want to upgrade in the future?

Answer these questions and it will help me and others get you what you need.....

Ok good! now what do you have for a head unit (sorry, forgot to ask! )?????

Probe hatchback, good too! Will be easy to get some boom boom.

if ya want 2 12 inchers, and like it to get loud, and sound good, I have a few reccomendations. Look into the Dayton 12 inchers at Parts express......http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-555

Heck, One of those subs in the right box teamed up with an amp of around 300 watts will rock your world!!!!!

Figure 80 bucks for the sub
another 50 bucks for the box (you build it)
    another 30 bucks in wiring
and say 150 bucks for an amp.......

thats about 300 bucks and it will shake your mirrors and make your girlfreind's personals get wet from the vibration!!!!!

This is just one idea, but WILL kick some ass....probably put to shame alot of folks sytems that have twice the power and twice the subs!!!!! (as long as the box is made correctly)

If you wanna build your own box, we can guide you through it. It aint too hard, just takes some tools (or freinds that have access to them) and some determination. When you are ready or if you have questions, let us know, anytime.

you want a GOOD sounding 12 that costs less? this is it

    http://www.ascendantaudio.com/assassin12specs.html
hands down , best bang for your buck in my opinion

    so thats 90 + shipping

here is a ported box for it, comes with a chart so you can tune it to exactly what you want.. which would be 32 for these subs.
    http://www.premier-audio.com/Qlogic-QLH20012S-p/qlogic qlh20012s.htm

    so thats 43 + shipping

take this amp and bridge it
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6213.html

    90 + shipping

so thats like 223 + shipping costs.

get you an install kit like this
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_52.html

    30 bucks + shipping

and that is the total of 253 dollars plus shipping which should run you about 300 bucks total and it will sound good.

I should go into the business of building sub boxes....I love to woodwork and I could make a quality box....I prefer to dado and/or rabbet all joints, as well as glue and screw.....

My biggest problem would be shipping...I would have to look into it...I work for FedEx and could probably get a decent rate....

I guarantee my boxes are more solid than just about anything you could buy pre-made....

ill have to order me a box from you willy when I need one next. Speaking of which.. the terminal cap in my current box keeps popping out when I push t he sub hard.. what the heck should I use to keep it in there.

    Is it screwed into place??

I would like to find one that is made of all metal. One that can be held in place solidly with screws....

I have seen and used the ones that are plastic...Screwed in place, never came out.....but you figure you are using 3/4" MDF...All joints, dado'ed, glued and screwed and all joints fit tight with no need for any caulk, then you have this cheap little terminal thing that is made from plastic that is maybe 1/16" thick...Seems to be a sure weak spot for an air leak....A leak that size would cancel out all of the tight secure joints....

no its not screwed into place they just wedged it in there. thing is when i put in back in i cant get it out without the help of the sub pushing it. maybe some silicone or something along the edges?

I would try some liquid nails....It should hold very strong.....

Tell you what....Next time you need a box built...let me know....you pay for supplies and shipping, I will build it for free......You get the box and check it out.....if you like it....tell people about it....I love to woodwork......

What I would probably do for terminals on boxes I built would be to drill two holes and install bolts....On the inside, I would attach a section of 12 ga. speaker wire with terminals attached to the bolt...On the outside of the box, would be the threaded end of the bolts...A couple ring terminals crimped on the ends of the speaker wires and you have solid, strong, airtight connection point....

If I get a chance in the next couple of days...I am gonna take some pictures of my home audio set up....My sub is solid.....I guarantee you could stack 500 lbs on it without breakin a sweat.....When you knock on it with your knuckles, you can feel the solidness of it.....
