sorry but "cheap" and "high powered rifle" dont belong in the same sentance :2guns: :2guns: :2guns: :rifle: :rifle: :gunsmilie: :gunsmilie:
i want a GOOD 30/6 with a night vision scope and a baby eagle...too bad the rifle is about 6-8k, and the baby eagle is in the 4 digit range as well eric
You can build a "spud gun" for cheap.. just a few short pieces of PVC pipe that you probably already have, a couple PVC couplings, a grill ignitor, a can of hair spray, and a bag of potatoes... And it would be way more of a challenge trying to kill the pigs this way. Pigs aren't smart, at least level the playing field for them!
You should be able to find a 30/06 relatively cheap, ~$400 or so. Short of that or a 30-30 I don't reccomend any smaller. Now, If you have access to a pistol, a .44 magnum or .357 mag will work as well. But that is really for the daring as a pig will charge and gore you if you miss
Wild Boar have huge tusks, and can kill a human very quickly and very easily. If you can jump over a full grown boar, hell even a domestic pig, you need to look into the NBA my man. They are quite large.
Use the spud gun to spike some potatoes over the sharp tips of their horns, rendering them harmless when they charge.
I think he has spent too much time watching the movie "babe" with the lttle pink pig
LOL! Ok I understand Boars can gore you but pigs are different. Its pretty easy to jump over a pig if it dashing at you...Just do a split in mid air...lol
Hehe I miss my spud gun. D Cell batter wrapped in packing tape make great ammo. I will be building a pnuematic one very soon. A trick I learned for combustion cannons was to use a stun gun as an ignitor. Just put two bolts or nails in the combustion chamber that are a short distance apart and attatch wire to them and the ends of the stun gun. Works awesome. No chance of getting it gummed up.
Well I Have a 357 but i am not that daring . I actually have a pretty decent arsonal of guns. I have a 30/30 and a 32 long rifle. However both of these are back in Indiana and i am unable to mount a scope to either. The 30/30 is a model 94 winchester. And the 32 was built in 1941 I have a hard time finding ammo for it and i really dont want to shoot it as it is in pristeen condition. I was kinda looking along the lines of like an old mouser or something like that. I know those are cheap and can be rebuilt for cheap as well. I dont mind buying a used gun I just dont know which gun would be best. Figure i might go pig hunting a few times. I have a bunch of 22's and 410's and all kinds of shot guns. If you can tell i am a bird hunter . I have a 22 that is accurate as hell but it is a competion gun. Thing cost me 2000 with out the sights. I can prolly take a out a pigs eye at 100 yards with it. But I would have to know his exact yarded to take him out with that . Scott Stoner
My uncle hunted with his 357, and said no issues really. He uses a python, unscoped. They maintain a relatively flat trajectory and are actually quite accurate for a pistol. The .44 will stop a truck. The 30/30 would work great and is what I used when I went piggin' (never got one though). The .22s will bounce off his skin and a 22-250 (I have a 22-250 and a .222) will pierce it's skin but doesn't have the stopping power of a big caliber. Being a hunter I'm sure you realise the .410 woln't be a good choice. I was going to use my 16 Ga, but the guy I went with said that even with 00 buckshot or a rifled slug (my preferance) will just break it's bones and piss it off good  . Call home and have 'em ship the 30-30. B) The top eject (it is a lever action right?) is no big deal for a good scope mount and a good drill/tap job at a good gunsmith.
Screw guns....be a man like Rambo and use a Bow and Arrow.....When i start dear hunting i am going to do it with a bow. Ted Nuget uses bows almost all the time....he is a MAN Scott, SC
Hahaha... hell yes! And he's got that telescoping lift trailer with the camoflage hunting tent at the top... Never pictured a rocker to turn into such a hillbilly... but hey, he's working it for sure...
