My system is now installed. Subs, Amp, and Speakers. The guy even custom installed my amp rack on the side Her is my feedback on the 2 10's: They are loud but I wish they were a bit more chest pounding. I guess that will be my next system. It pounds a bit but not as much as I hoped. The subs seem to be taking the 400W nice and easy. The speakers are good but I will have to play around with the options a bit so it sounds crisp without being muffled by the bass. The Installer did however tell me that Cadence is nothing to hype about. He told me they were good back when they started and were being made in America but noiw since they are made in China they arent as good. He also said that A RF amp, half the size of my amp could push more clean power. I told him that the Amp would cost me twice as much and he agreed. He also said that the subs are good but W3's wouldhave sounded much better. "1000" times better that is. He knew what ED was and said that its better to go with a larger company like JL and RF than an internet only company like ED. He did do a good job installing and did seem to know what he was talking about earlier so I didnt completely block him out.
He's dead wrong on the cadence. Im not sure when what he dosent like about cadence amps.... maybe its that they put out more power than they are rated at..... or maybe its that they are extremely reliable....... or maybe its how greatly priced they are.........HMMMMMM In my opinion the W3 and the K series are very compareable..... similar Fs... khas a little stronger motor, more X-Max, and higher powerhandling. Similar box requirements. I think he is dead wrong.
Well He is Not "dead" wrong about Cadence And they are no where near a "good price" in a Authorized Store, and I would NEVER purchase a A7 for the $900 most shops want for them. there are alt better amps out there for that price...... ANd Cadence is not Made in China, they are made in Korea........... if you want louder, go ported
the subs are plenty loud but they dont really pound your chest like I hoped they would. When standing right next to the subs with the trunk open you still dont really feel like they are "pounding". Is there something wrong with my installation or is that all Im going to get from my 10's? About the whole breaking in issue......where should I keep the volume while the subs are still getting broken in.
most people will tell you to play them at medium levels for 20 hours or so. Personally, I've never really had to "break" any of my subs in.
I have no Idea what your talking about Are you say it is loud but you can not FEEL it as much as you thought you would?
OK let me elaborate. The subs are loud and by that I mean they can completely muffle my speakers and plenty hurt my ears. But they dont pound your chest.......they dont give you that feeling like they are hitting you. Does anyone know what Im talking about?
What no pictures!? I have never felt a pounding on my chest with my 2 15"s and 1200 watts. It could make it hard to breathe but no chest pounding. Do they move the hair on your arms? I love that feeling. That and after like 20 minutes of having it turned up very loud you step out of the car and sorta feel stoned. Anyone else experience the "lightly stoned" feeling?
Subzone 1.1 cu fr per chamber sealed How much would it cost to get metered? Would u suggest I do it now or wait till the subs break in? Ill get some pics soon but someone needs to host them
around here, a shop will usually meter you for 20 bucks or so. Not sure about where you live though. i guess it should all be about the same. I need someone to host pics soon as well, as I will be installing my 600.1 soon and will be taking pics.
I took the car back to the installer b/c I had a ffew questions so I let him listen to the system again and he told me that it sounded a lot better than before and he likes it a alot. The other installer seemed to like it to and asked what that weird amp was in my trunk  Its all good here
Sorry, but the installer was dead wrong on all points you listed here. Cadence is incredible equipment. Period. He is a true moron. You can ask anyone who has Cadence, and they will always reply the same... Just great equipment. RFs are nasty, good SPL but not "clean"". I just don't like the RF processing. couple that with the fact that they get hot enough to fry an egg... re, inefficient. Just not what I look for in an amp. You have type Rs right? A W3 is not better than a Type R. It is louder, but the R has it in SQ... 1000 times While JL is a great, and their customer service is great, RF? They are just not my cup of tea. A more personal company like ED that is not after big $, they are searching for good a reputation. They are more likely to do for you than JL or RF. I am glad you got it installed, and happy to hear you are pleased. I am just surprised you didn't install it yourself. You have been around long enough to have learned. Why didn't you do it yourself?
I have no hands on experience so I felt it would be dumb and risky for me to go ahead and do everything myself. None of my close friends know how to install a system so I couldnt even ask for help. I really wanted to try and do everything myself but I dont have the tools and defienetly dont have all the knowledge I would need to pull it off. I would have loved to save some $$$ and learn how to install on my own. One question...... I went back to the installer and I told him that the Sub-W option on my Alpine does not work. He told me that is b/c he had to wire the subs differently( not directly to HU?) b/c the original way made the subs play very muddy. Everything else seems to work fine....I think. The guy is cool and he did a little custom amp rack for free and we talked about cars afterwards. I think he was honest but would like to know what this means if the subs are wired in a way that the SUB-W option can no longer be used. Sandt I have Comp Vr's not Alpine type R's Oh and I cant turn the subs off I know I should EVER turn them off but still....
I'd say he put the rcas in the rear channel outs rather than the sub out. No real reason, he just made a mistake... You should ask him to correct it . I understand you fear of trying this, but hey...how else would you learn . Amyways, cool. I'm glad you got your stuff in and to your liking...
He told me that he did it that way the first time but it sounded muddy. Why would it sound muddy? Will this take much time to rewire or is it a 5 minute job? I need to get some hands on experience....
