i recently bought a kenwood kac-8152d from a friend. (links below) and i bought a brand new kenwood kfc-1000f

my amp is rated 300w @ 4ohm and the sub has a rated power of 250w.

the amp does not have a visible gain adjustment. is there a way to adjust the gain?
would it be bad to wire these two together?
i plan on having this professionally installed next week or so but just wanted to make sure it would be safe to hook these two up together bc the amp puts out more power than the sub it rated for.

btw i have an alpine cde 9874 head unit if it helps

    one last thing...
'what is the difference between rated, max and peak power?
    thanks

rated power is the real power. don't pay attention to max or peak power.

If i'm not mistaken for your kenwood amp one of the top aluminum covers come off and all the adjustments are there.

going 50 watts over is perfectly fine. Don't worry about putting too much power, if the gain is set correctly then you will have no problems at all.

Here's a video on how to set your gains properly...

the formula for getting the correct voltage is V = sqr(PxR)

so in your case it would be 250x4 then get the square root which would be 31.62 volts.
